@Arc1015670 actually, they're not. crows, ravens, magpies, jackdaws etc all belong to the corvid family (corvidae), so they are, essentially, all distant cousins :)
definetely it's a crow!. Buy the way crows are very intelligent, way more so than eagles. Even more than dogs. They actually rank in intelligence with the big apes.
@Angel223333 Dam , sorry. I should have remembered this after spending 10 years in Alaska. Yes ,I'm TOTALLY Wrong . Ravens are much larger and talk completely different . Mmm-kay ?
@carrotkid117 probably! If I stand in the same spot for a while I sink a little bit too, as does my tripod (making for some rather interesting, lopsided shots).
the eagle is very smart and is aware you ae there or close by. their hearing and eyesight is excellent. of course the crow, caw, caw, very vocal to let the eagle know he's got the food now! :) love how they hop around while on the ground.
check out cat and crow are friends video, amazing friendship!
@stars6354 that is exactly right, the eagle for sure knows I am there. I approach with great care, do my best to not disturb.
Their nests are right above the road, parking lot, concession stands, picnickers, dog walkers, children playing, beach volleyball. There are helicopters flying overhead, sea planes, the Coast Guard hovercraft on occasion comes to the beach . .. the level of disturbance is big. My little camera effort is a tiny blip in their regular day.
you are a absolute idiot!!! you dont know what a eagle looks like!! any giving day you see a eagle!! every day of your pathetic life!!!! you ingrate asshole!! no!! FUCK YOU PAL!!
In Naples Florida we have a pair of Bald Eagles living in a dead tree about 1/4 mile away. Almost every day one of them will catch a fish out of one of the golf course lakes and bring it to this old, low lying tree in our back yard and eat it right in front of us. In the spring we have a nested pair of mocking birds in the same tree and they will dive bomb the eagle the entire time it's in the tree eating the fish.
wow that is a lot of action. I would be out there with my camera all the time! haha, I'm sure the golf course is not pleased about being an eagle feeding ground.
@JoDaddyy this video is actually very close to the beach, usually on the tidal flats at Spanish Banks I find eagles waaaaaaay out from the shoreline. I was quite close to the Spanish Bank East concession stand, if you know where that it. Its at the bottom of Blanca St.
@JoDaddyy oh OK, well its actually west of Kitsilano, its almost at UBC.
Just go to the Spanish Bank, pick a low tide day
and hang out anywhere on the tidal flats, the eagles go all over.
If you are driving go along NW Marine, park before you start going up the hill there is a large field/green area its a dog park you will know when you see it. The Spanish Banks West concession stand is there you can't really miss it.
Bald eagles are not all that rare in Washington. I've seen them lots of times, fishing in rivers during fish runs, snagging fish out of lakes, etc. I got to watch two of them doing some sort of aerial mating dance from a ferry not too long ago. Crows will gang up on any bird of prey and try to chase them off. My falconer friend hates crows. He says that while the birds of prey are overall tougher birds that crows are more nimble and will harass the bop mercilessly.
to be around those animals would be amazin i only ever seen the bold eagle once and it was walt disney world florida for a few seconds ide love to sea 1 again for much longer thow,
over where i live the crows live in packs and chase after eagles. crows are pretty smart they sure know how to open shellfish (flying up and dropping them in the middle of the road)
yeah there was one summer that like 10 crows dive-bombed the Jericho eagles' nest for like two weeks straight. The eagle babies died that year, there is speculation that the stress from the constant barrage interrupted feeding. Might not be, but it was pretty intense.
they do sometimes, I have a couple of videos of an eagle eating a crow, and one video of it eating a seagull.
Bald eagles are basically lazy and will eat whatever is easiest! crows are pretty nimble so its easier for the eagle to swoop down and eat a bunny or squirrel or fish or crab.
Years ago I watched 2 approaching bald eagles scare hundreds of gulls, blackbirds of all types, and crows out of a landfill soon a s they saw them approaching and they were still 1/8 of mile to a quarter mile off-that landfill "exploded" with scattering birds!

San Francisco zoo. I don't think it was bad though. The eagle was just perched on the handler's arm looking at how he might destroy another bird.
