A lot of people don't know that when you drop a phone in water, the water gets to the battery, shorts out the battery (which kills it), and cuts power to the phone before the water even gets to the circuitry.
I've got a whole box of cell phone batteries that will not charge, particularly old ones that have corroded, so I will have to try this.
Bro that was genius .... I was regretting cutting the USB charger cable until I saw it power on .... It's been dying and not charging at all neither through the wall charger nor the USB .... but this did it .... I left it for 20 minutes and got 14% charge and now it's charging on it's own ... HTC EVO 4G .... the red battery .... Thanks again ! Saved my ass .... I was at work with no way of leaving or getting another battery ....

The MDA has a "feature". It does not charge from the standard charger when you cant boot it. No never completely surge it. When you did just connect it to your PC and try different mini usb cables. Depending on the wiring this always works. If not hit a little pin in the reset.
this will eventually destroy your phone i recommend this for a quick fix while your charger is broken and you have not gotten a new one but not for a long term fix.

Dear Battery fixers. Putting an higher voltage across Nicad & Nickel Metal Hydroxide batteries burns off the "whiskers" that grow internally between the + & - plates. Seems to let the batts go another useful life when charged, after "flashing". I've fixed many batts over yrs but some do not I would not do it to Li poly or Lithium ion batts as they are inextinguishable if catch fire I'm told. I know little about them.cheers fred

I friggin followed a prior video where they had you leave battery in phone while hooked to usb on computer. showed immediately tht battery full, but as soon as unplugged, back to red no bars again and phone and battery were very hot. I wldn't recommend unless emerg use needed for few minutes. I'm still waiting for this to charge this way.

Amazing the number of dicks who are moaning at you that it didn't work. If it doesn't work then there's probably something else wrong - perhaps they want you to spoon feed them their baby food lunch while you're at it.
It didnt work for me. :( I tried charging it for a few minutes....then longer (about 25)...nothing. But my computer DID respond to a removal when I disconnected the wires from the battery. It made the "duhn-duhn!" noise.
Just expose the metal part of your battery to an intense light source by just using a study lamp. Place the head of the lamp on a flat surface with your battery inside of the head of the lamp and turn the lamp on. After a couple of minute place the battery inside of your phone and it should work again.

this is fake, for your information USB Ports releases 12 volts of electricity, some chargers only releases upto 5.0 volts of electricity, so if you use that you are actually damaging your battery and you may even set your house on fire.
@hubschniedlich before u said it FAKE, u should tried it first.. my nokia n900 cant turn on, so i take a risk to try this method. it works. even though it release much volt, it function as a "jumper" (same method with car battery). ;) vote down for you.
Just had to buy a new battery for the G1...thing just wouldn't hold a charge anymore...this happens when you overkill your battery too many times...same with a car battery, eventually you'll have to buy a new one.

I just tried this and it worked on my LG lithium ion batter 3.7V 1100mAh. I didn't think that it would work and I tried it on my old lap top just in case, but it actually works. Computer didn't have any problems either.

The person describing this on a thread said 20 secs at most or it could overload a battery with this trick and actually make it explode if you hold it there too long. So i tried it the first time for 20 secs then quickly put the battery back on phone to wall charger and it came alive lol. But i appreciate you making a vid on it.
You can do the same thing, but just use the supplied charging cord that came with the phone. My girlfriend tried pluggin mine in (apparently upside down or somethin) and fucking destroyed all the little wires....I was pissed. I just cut the head off that plugs into the phone and did basically the same thing.

No, what happens with the MDA is it will slowly drain a battery when the phone is off to a voltage lower than what it would normally turn off at, when the voltage is under 3 volts the phone won't charge or power up using the battery. So all you are doing is charging it without the phone a little bit using the 5 volt power from the USB bus of a computer, it wouldn't take more than a minute to do. It won't make it hold a charge longer and can actually cause a fire if the battery gets overcharged

this is fake, for your information USB Ports releases 12 volts of electricity, some chargers only releases upto 5.0 volts of electricity, so if you use that you are actually damaging your battery and you may even set your house on fire.

@hubschniedlich before u said it FAKE, u should tried it first.. my nokia n900 cant turn on, so i take a risk to try this method. it works. even though it release much volt, it function as a "jumper" (same method with car battery). ;) vote down for you.

Just had to buy a new battery for the G1...thing just wouldn't hold a charge anymore...this happens when you overkill your battery too many times...same with a car battery, eventually you'll have to buy a new one.

I just tried this and it worked on my LG lithium ion batter 3.7V 1100mAh. I didn't think that it would work and I tried it on my old lap top just in case, but it actually works. Computer didn't have any problems either.

this video is crazy. i didnt have an extra usb but i did have an extra charger so my boyfriend used that instead. i didnt have electrical tape either, just used normal tape, but the concept totally worked! the last thing i needed was to buy a new battery.. totally saved me! thanks again...!! <3 pinkz

Dude!! Your da MAN! I was just about to spend like 40 bucks on a new storm battery when all i needed was a custom home defibulator for my battery. The person describing this on a thread said 20 secs at most or it could overload a battery with this trick and actually make it explode if you hold it there too long. So i tried it the first time for 20 secs then quickly put the battery back on phone to wall charger and it came alive lol. But i appreciate you making a vid on it.

You can do the same thing, but just use the supplied charging cord that came with the phone. My girlfriend tried pluggin mine in (apparently upside down or somethin) and fucking destroyed all the little wires....I was pissed. I just cut the head off that plugs into the phone and did basically the same thing.

No, what happens with the MDA is it will slowly drain a battery when the phone is off to a voltage lower than what it would normally turn off at, when the voltage is under 3 volts the phone won't charge or power up using the battery. So all you are doing is charging it without the phone a little bit using the 5 volt power from the USB bus of a computer, it wouldn't take more than a minute to do. It won't make it hold a charge longer and can actually cause a fire if the battery gets overcharged
