Look very carefully at 4:40. You can see the contestant's wife before she comes on stage. Horrible cut.

@ojiisanhikui That's not his wife-- that's was Anita Gillette running on stage and hugging Jess.
Guess she felt happy for him, too.

That wasn't coughing. That was a typical-of-the-era NBC choke.
This show, plus "50 Grand Slam" and "Somerset", all said goodbye on New Year's Eve 1976.

I barely remember this as a kid. I have been looked for it for a long time.

4:37 - 5:01 21 cuts in 24 seconds. Was the TD always this indecisive?

Was there a live studio audience, or is it all a laugh track? The wide shot suggests it was an empty studio.

The times-up buzzer was also used on "The Gong Show '76-'80".

And ironically, Allen Ludden is hosting this!

What a dumb Bonus... no wonder this lasted 13 weeks...

I agree. It looks way too easy to win.

It looked easy but only 2 people on its 13 week period won $20,000. It was the Xmas episode and New Years Eve episode. And a few won 10,000
I don't think the bonus round is dumb! It is very hard, though.
