The only Lord of the Ring movie deserving Best Picture was the First one. I Think that Babel such have won instead of The Departed and agree on L.A. Confidential.
Good job putting in Citizen Kane(It was the biggest shame in Oscar history), It's a Wonderful Night, Sierra Madre, Street Car named Desire, Dr Strangelove, Graduate, Clockwork Orange(Great), Taxi Driver, Lost Ark, Raging Bull, Fargo, Dead Poets Society(Awesome), Saving Private Ryan.
very very odd list... Dr. Zhivago over Sound of Music? The Graduate vs Heat of the Night??? The entire LOTR series winning? I do agree with Citizen Kane but that's just about it. I find the rest are either contentious or just odd.
Shashank is my favorite of the two but I think Gump deserves it more because of its origionality. No Country for Old Men, All the Kings Men, Sound of Music, Rocky, Dances with Wolves, A Beautiful Mind, and though I love Apocaalpse Now I would say Kramer vs Kramer should not have been changed. Though I do agree with some switches Raging Bull Dr. Strangelove
The real best picture of 1975 was Jaws. Leave Titanic. Put in Rear Window, keep the Bridge on the River Kwai, keep In the Heat of the Night. How do you not have 2001. Keep All About Eve althoug Sunset Blvd. was great. Keep the French Connection, put on American Graffitti and Chinatown, good job picking Gandhi, E.T sucks, so does Platoon. Glory should've won, Apollo 13 and The English Patient, Ray, Good Night and Good Luck, Great Debaters
This is garbage. First off, how dare you replace the groundbreaking French Connection with A Clockwork Orange. Yes A Clockwork Orange is a great fun film. But The French Connection set the bar for just about every cop show/movie ever made. It may not have aged as well as A Clockwork Orange, but in its day it was indeed the best picture. Rocky is still a classic to this day. Just because it was essentially a feel good film does not make it anyworse than Network or Taxi Driver.
annie hall? and no country for old men, go and fuck your self(excuse the expresion), you anormal freak, i can understand the pianist over chicago, but that fantasy shit of the lord of the rings(ok that was hard, but i dont forgive winning 11, the year of lost in translation and mistyc river,P.S i don't like fantasy that much, sorry for the hard comments, but sincerily, i tell you, beside avoiding no country for old men, annie hall, and putting the three lord of the rings, i agree with you
French Connection deserved its win. So did Gandhi. Where is 2001 and The English Patient?
Titanic thankfully won over LA Confidential although it is a great film. Ray should've won. Saving Private Ryan and The Fellowship of the Ring shoul've won to.
Okay, you are officially amazing for including Its a Wonderful Life, Clockwork Orange, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark,LA Confidential, Dead Poets Society, Brokeback Mountain, and There Will Be Blood.
In my book, these films are superior to the BPWs of their respected years. This is especially true with Dead Poets Society, which is my favorite movie of all time.
Yeah Clockwork Orange was much better than French Connection and definitly should have won best picture.I also think Goodfellas should have won in 1990 as well.Pulp Fiction should have won in 1994 and I agree with Crash winning best picture.

Because "L.A Confidential" is a masterpierce and "Titanic" is a overestimated movie.

Also, if your gonna make replacements than take Cuckoo's Nest out and put in Dog Day Afternoon, the REAL best picture of 1975.

I disagree with replacing The Sound of Music and I don't like the 1964 choice. It really should've been Mary Poppins! My opinion.

I never understood L.A. Confidential and Goodfellas. But yeah, most of your choices were ones that the academy should have picked.
Except replacing The Bridge on the River Kwai with 12 Angry Men. And where's Vertigo and 2001?
