RE1 defined the entire genre, RE2 was immense, CV amazing, 4 is considered one of the greatest games of all time and was a massive influence on future titles, notably Gears of War. 3 was good but not great. But lets not forget the remake, made in 2002 on the GC and the graphics still hold up to this day. 5 was released too far from 4 to have kept the same gameplay, hence it was a letdown.
