  • he looks like the one of the guys in the david caradine hung gar exercise video ive seen on youtube

  • Awsome Video... wish you were in my area i would def sign up for ur teachings.

  • Love the five animals! I'm starting to unlock the potential of Hung Gar by cross-training Boxing and Japanese Jujitsu; what a fearsome power...!

  • morgan freeman?

  • Kung fu means too work hard and long,......to those people who r puting bad comments on this video.

  • great , i think he practices other fist thought , hes way to buff for gung fu alone

  • @Namriu94 Correction: he's too buff for some kung fu alone, but Hung Gar WILL get you buff from head to toe

  • this looks kick ass!

  • There is a big diference in once ability to through few punches and kicks, and once abilty to fight, because fighting takes strategy, and thinking, which are the hardest to master, Don Hamby is a grate teacher and a grate fighter, do not dought something that you don,t undertand.

  • @hunggararam if you use google chrome, it has a built in spell check. (i am not trying to be rude; these look like spelling mistakes of an ESL student, so i am just offering friendly advice)

  • for a person to become a good fighter they need to put alot of time and effort, alot of sparring and fighting, if anybody is under impression that taking MMA, or Myi tai, or western boxing is going to make you good fighter in a year or two, than you are deeply mistaking, people like muhamed ali, Joe frazer, anderson silva , randy coture, paqiao, oscar delahoya did not become champions over night or over one year they had dedicated their life to their sport for over a dacade . Cont

  • i bought this guys dvd, and it was a joke...(lau gar kuen)

  • sorry but the dragon form don`t exist its also the tiger form

  • uhh.. wasn't tiger fist done with normal fists?

  • if you question if this is real or not ask sifu hamby for a demonstration I did it comes at a price

  • This guy is real I also studied under Bucksam under Don Morrison And Ray Hildreth

this guy will wo your a#@ people seem to think that when they look at these demonstrations that that is how we really fight in a real situation. These movements

are adjusted to fit the situation at hand . So stop making comments on you tube about demos there just demos We do not fight like that in the dojo

  • this dude is legit.very cool video. he is a very large powerful man.coupled with great kung fu ability=unstoppable.

  • @quandoman my friend was a crane practitioner for 3 years and knocked out a golden glove boxer with a crane beak to the temple then one to the eye i know what your saying though you kinda have to incorporate kung fu into a fight and modernize it a bit before you get the maximum potential of the style

  • @crailtap9292 That is all I am saying you must adapt to the modern day fighting styles with your own style what ever style you may be practicing. I agree with all the way

  • One of the best video i've ever seen!!! great sifu great music

  • i'm a choy lay fut practitioner. Chinese kung fu is about ethics and character, it is only after u achieve that you can become good. Fuck that MMA shit, we wipe your ass on the floor.

  • interesting

  • To everyone talking about fights between differents style, whoever won defeated the individual, never the style. Whoever is doing kung fu to fight in rings is doing kung fu for the wrong reasons, you have to find your style to progress and become stronger in the mind and in the body, to develop agility, flexibility and be able to use self-defense. I have been doing hung gar for a few months and this guy seems very legit. Good video

  • @0877danimal Thanks Daimal

  • that will make it easyer when im starting at hung gar kung fuu next month ^__^

  • Well Done..another extremely useful training aid..really brings the techniques to life

  • Brutal... I like it!=D

  • Are these guys serious? the dude looks like a comedian man....

  • @illestwon They say out of the heart the mouth speaks. It is quite obvious that you have a comedian mind. Grow up little boy. Neither you or your remarks have value.

  • Loving that "Got Qi?" shirt!

  • Very good video! I'm gonna mark it as one of my favourites. I like all the animals, but I found the leopard more atractive, despite that the Crane technique of evasion is EXTREMELY useful and ignored by many who train it. I've learned some movements of the crane, eagle and tiger, tho. I'm currently training the Bei Shaolin, a style that I'm liking very much!

  • this video...was EFFINGG AWESOMEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! i started hung gar about 5 months ago and have always been mixing it with other martial arts trying to find a way to keep it pure but nowww i get the idea!!!

  • quandoman i studied hung ga under sifu frank yee who did you learn from

  • @edlo123 My Sifu is master Bucksam Kong/Master Lam Chun Fai in hong Kong.

  • this will be added to my favorites for sure. Great video and impressive technique.

  • so this video proves that even sifus smoke crack

  • @rawrletsgo

    STFU, YOUR IDIOT!

  • @rawrletsgo Your comments indicate who's really smoking crack. When you get off the crack pipe mybe you will become a better person. To the simple minded negative thoughs are easy. You must be miserable sitting there along sucking on that glass penis.

  • @Quandoman

OMG TY for that.. I have laughed for over 15 minutes... glass penis... AWESOME

BWAHAHAHAHAHA your words hit like your fists... lol good

    By the way nice video!

  • @rawrletsgo, whoa, you got done mate, "sucking on that glass penis", i bet you never expected a respectable kung fu teacher to come out with that line, i cant stop laughing hahahaha.

  • i think the dragon shud have ben a chinese dragon lol vary nice vid

  • sorry buddy.. not practical for modern combat...stances too low, no agility, no groundfighting techniques..techniques are too complicated and take too long to master.. a good boxer or even a grappler will will whoop these guys.

  • @mrcharles007 Sigh.. Those who do not study the art do not understand. The stances are nothing more than training methods to prepare you for different situations such as modern combat. not knocking other arts, but Boxing seems straight forward and predictable. If your speaking about MMA, while it does take some disciplines.. To me it seems like glorified boxing and wrestling put into 2. But then again.. It depends on the Person behind the art, not the art itself (half the time.)

  • @manupdrk Please, don't go talking about stuff you don't know. Boxing's anything BUT predictable. I myself studied Hung Gar, but even talking to TMA people (well some), they say that traditional's weakness is that there are "telephoned" punches - as in they are performed from a preset position, which make them predictable. Yes, boxing only has the jab, cross, hook, and uppercut, but it's mixing them up. Traditional's still practical, don't get me wrong, but having boxing really helps

  • @FoieGras You must of clearly understood me. What I mentioned about Boxing is pure opinionated based off of what I've seen. I do Have a friend that has taken Boxing for quite some time. No I have not taken a Boxing Class but I do respect it as an Art. It may of came off as me bashing them, but that wasn't the intention. I'm so accustomed to people bashing our Martial Arts that at times I lose that discipline to keep quiet. But you are right, Having any sort of training, like boxing helps.

  • @FoieGras I would go on but in the end its like politics. I have my view and you have yours.. no matter what is said..at the end of the day we still walk away with our views.. so arguing is pointless. 10 months ago I didn't clarify as much. Boxing does have its uses, and Hung gar definitely has its uses. My only gripe is when MMA fighters attack traditional martial artist like they are TRULY the best. Without our Foundations and traditions, they would be nothing. Part 2 coming lol.

  • @FoieGras part 2. However, some MMA Fighters try to keep the old traditions in tact. So they are doing what most teachers stress to their students...and that's to make the art your own. Those that respect the traditions Is what I'm fine with. Honestly I just wish we would stop waring but that won't happen anytime soon. Boxing again.. has its purposes.. but there's some things you need to abandon that they teach you to make it practical.. similar to styles such as hung gar.

  • @mrcharles007 But when you do master them, it sure helps (and actually these techs are quite intuitive once you get the hang of it). Agility comes with experience no matter which art you study (you should know that). You yourself go find a good Hung Gar guy before talking

Actually, lost to a boxer before (beat a Muay Thai guy though), but as for a grappler, he wasn't even able to do his double-leg take down BECAUSE of the stable stances.

  • @mrcharles007 To the simple minded person of course these

techniques are complicated. You lack understanding. Gung fu is not for the simple

minded.Gung fu is a science. We know how to adapt. You have been taken in by a sport. Gung fu is not a sport.

  • @mrcharles007 The low stances of Hung Gar were used to develop the practitioners foundation. Hung fighters are known for their strong stances and powerful centers of gravity.True Hung also has various forms grappling similar to Judo. There are also boxing sets similar to Wing Chung - all wrapped up in the system. I've sparred with all types - professional boxers, judo, and Jujitsu experts, even Brazilian Jujitsu and fought my opponents to a stand still or beat them.

  • @sunwukung777 It's not necessarily the style but the practitioner. The more experienced a person is in combat the more difficult he is to beat. Do not confuse fighting with combat - they are different. It takes two to fight. Combat is about what I'm going to do to you - there are no rules. I'll rip off an ear if necessary or gouge out an eye to survive - this is real Kung Fu.

  • @mrcharles007 So what you're saying is that the style is too difficult? That says a lot about your character.

  • @mrcharles007 Yea, Because everyone knows MMA has been around for centuries! OWAIT!! Dude, Kung-fu isnt a point system, its an art built upon hard work, And to say " a good boxer or even a grappler will whoop these guys" Means you have little to no understanding of the martial arts. As Quandoman said " Gung-fu is not for the simple"

  • @mrcharles007 you are being foolish. you have never fought a day in your life. you MUST respect all forms of combat in order to gain victory. a boxer would get kicked. a grappler would get torn. and by the look of this mans intensity hes thinking die mother fucker as seen in 5:50 and youre thinking competition. you keep sleeping and youre bound for a rude awakening.

  • @opticannon you are responding to a comment I posted over a year ago my opinion has since change. If you have 15 20 or 30 year to study kung fu or other traditional art than yes you are right. FYI I been in fights I been attacked by knives( beat defense in a knife attack is to run by the way), and I been shot at. in combat techniques must be simple effective and easy to learn. arts like krav maga, or jdk can turn a total beginer into a capaple fighter in a a year bottom line.

  • @mrcharles007 fine, so you live in a hostile enviornment and have had to dig deep to find survival. good , its an expensive lesson is it not?

the problem is not traditional MA but the teachers lacking the experience that you and i have or that of the originators at the time. if it takes that long then you are being mislead. think about it truly. now that you have the knowlege within you any art can be made effective and if someone says anything different they are just promoting thier truth.

  • @mrcharles007

The stances are low to strengthen the legs. The complex moves are done to teach you solid basics. And if you ever feel that Kung Fu has no place in modern combat come over to my house and let me punch you in the throat with a leopard fist....

  • @mrcharles007 I don't know if we're watching the same video because I didn't find the movements overly complicated. Perhaps there was a couple of movements that I felt didn't need to be there, but otherwise this is fine.

Also, just because something doesn't include groundfighting doesn't make it ineffective.

  • @langying want to be a good fighter studying a traditional martial arts? train for 15-20 years, you will become good at fighting aganist one unarmed opponet with little martial arts training, if he pull a knife, you're screwed, if some of his buddies gang up on you , again you're screwed, if he takes you to the ground or if you slip and fall, you're screwed! styles like JKD, and krav maga or military combatives are more effective for the streets and it won't take 15, or 20 years to learn.

  • @mrcharles007 Actually, many traditional styles teach methods of dealing with a weapon dealing opponent, multiple opponents and groundfighting. Don't expect everyone to want to give their secrets away so easily. Just because a video doesn't show something doesn't mean it's not there.

Also, just because something's easy to pick up doesn't mean it's superior to anything traditional. Every style takes time honored practiced to truly master

  • This man is slower than hell.

  • @r4dio4ctive Hey body try sparring with his it is so mach fun because he is so slw. not.

  • @r4dio4ctive you base speed on what, a demo? ya lost me,,,,,,

  • Hello sifu !! I like the design of your school patch. I collect such things. Can you tell me how I can buy one from you?

  • @serbsmight If you would like a patch I will mail you one. Send me your address.

  • @Quandoman Please do send me one.Ii was thinking of that oval shape patch. I send the address to your web site. it is my friend Allen who have a small koon in his garage. i practice there.

  • U r a beast man....i mean this in a positive sense!

    Greetz from Germany

  • nicely demonstrated!

  • Thanks for your comment

  • WELL DONE!

  • thanks

  • Thanks for comment

  • So, how does Hung Gar differentiate itself from all other styles that uses the same animal based styles, like shaolinquan?

  • @ShinFuYux I only did Hung Gar so I can't say for sure, but it seems that Hung Gar's quite a bit more direct when compared to stuff say like the original Shaolin version. It's always directly attack the body rather than the roundabout way. There are still traps and blocks that damage, but there seems to be less fakes and such

  • this video makes me understand more clearly the one of the foms of the hung gar kung fu..

  • specialization is key to success

you can try to be broad and learn all 5

or you can thrive in one and pwn even more

  • This video is Extraordinary!

  • i like this video, the history of kung fu styles is very interesting to me, the only way i'd improve on the video is when he's demonstrating he should go slow once, then at full speed a second time, one so people could see how its done and then to show them what it'd really look like in a fight other than that its perfect, ooh also my style appearently does panther strikes but we call them hurakens :D

  • Awesome!

  • This man studied under Gong Bucksam for..25 years? Would you keep a student for that long that you thought was a joke? ;)

  • his dragon is weird , we taught to use it for heavy slaps rather then grappling

  • I enjoyed Looking at this video. I can now make the dragon apart of my customized fighting style.. It's called.... Kabop =D I will be the one

  • @bruceleroy60; then make better videos

  • YOU AINT GOT THE GLOW

    HAMBY DOES

  • Comment removed

  • And I do really like this video. It's very informative. But the dragon is wrong, The maiming and killing is the tiger. The internal is the dragon. Otherwise, I thought the video was very good and especially the wristbands. Hardcore, real Hung Gar people condition the forearms like mad, and know that some spiked gear over them always helps :)

  • interesting and good video thanks but a dragon with wings?

the chinese dragon dosen't have the wings

  • this is bs. Dragon is internal, other videos on youtube properly demonstrate the dragon section of the five animals/five elements form...

  • you dont know much about hung kuen application then do you?

Kung Fu masters Gordon Lau and his adoptive brother lau kar leung of shaw brothers fame play the dragon hard and soft, Sifu Hamby here already talked about the internal benefits of dragon Just because he can demonstrate a practical application for the fist doesnt mean he has ignored the internal.

I wouldnt be so quick to criticise I just watched your videos and you dont even know how to punch a bag correctly.

  • But yet you complemented me on knee strikes when I was holding somebody's head after a double ear clap, and you later learned that I had been HIT BY A CAR and posted that video as a short self defense clip for him to practice that short, practical, devastating and street-proven combo :)

  • Dude, no joke your technique is so brutal/real.

It would be bad as if you were in an old shaw brothers film as the foreigner who opens a school in china or some shit..

great skill and I am sorry for joking about your video, though it was more a friendly joke seeing as redman does kung fu

  • i thought the dragon ws about inner strength

  • Some schools teach dragon as a purely internal set, while others still use a softer method but can extract a "hard application" like here, and also in my lineage Lau Gar Hung Keun

  • We all know that the Dragon is a mythological animal that represents power and the duality of hard/soft ,yin/yang,internal/external power.

You can't have one without the other. The dragon also represent a twisting and turning of the body as in golden dragon presents its claws or dragon wips its tail.Don't reject things you havn't been taught .Knowledge is power and the understanding of knowledge is the application of power. Do more research. Peace.

    Don Hamby Sifu

  • im practice of the five family five animals in mexico its called "tigre negro" Mexico. this its a great demostration of our sistem.....well done sifu

  • again i find people commenting that don't know the difference of demonstration or practice and actually applying the styles and techniques

  • One of the greatest virtues one can have is understanding. Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave, because the more you know the more you know you don't know. Thanks for your illuminating post Kirkinho1

    Don Hamby Sifu

  • And you fail to realize these techniques aren't for MMA usage.

  • Well done! Excellent effort on video. Wow!

  • Thanks Stretchsportguy

  • You mean they aren't spesific techniques or combo sets, but a type of fist to use instead of a rolled fist in every opportunity?

  • Such a difficult system to apply in even a clear situation, not to mention the fight most often wouldn't be nice and clear.

  • I disagree, if you can teach yourself to apply them using your own techniques that work for you and your style.. it becomes very useful.

  • Wasn't he trained by BuckSam Hong?

  • yes Buck Sam Kong for many years.

  • hamby looks like a guy off of mortal kombat

like this guy looks like a hardass.

  • No one special. I just read several of your posts on CLF and man do you get a bad rap. I do like what you said about dartmouth CLF though, and your right he had no real body connection nor does he understand the proper use of Sau Choy (Sweeping Hammer/Fist). Some people do not like honest Criticism. I try to help when I can but I am still just a Disciple not a master I learned CLF & Hung Gar those are my two styles.

  • Sifu Don is a huge fan of Chinese Kung Fu and I've seen him in a Sparring match in NY and He's good he may not be fast but he can hurt you. As for those that are running there mouth about him, I dare you to challenge any Real Hung Gar Sifu. Or better yet go to Hong Kong and Challenge Mark Ho Sifu or How About FrankyLau, I suddenly see pain in your future.

  • HAHAHA haw , thats so true *wipes tears from his eyes* Mark Ho is My Sigung and I'm terrified of the thought of some poor soul going against him!

  • If it isn't the elusive CLFDevil. I agree I've seen this man in action he's good. Hey CLFDevil How is Mark Fai Sifu?

  • if u can master the 5 animals u have no fear maybe u just lose ur common sense? or maybe you had none to begin with considering u mastered this ... firstly... in nearly all karate styles you dont bend your fingers while you palm (the tiger) if you hit a board like that your will break every 1 of them...

  • only because western karate-ka do nothing to condition there fingers, hung ga practitioners, real hung ga practitioners spend years striking bags, then bamboo then wood and finally iron shot with there fingers.

True karate-ka, the ones you never see in the west do something similar,

search walnut challange and watermelon challange, to see finger strength done in good humor, then try it yourself ,cry, then come back and apologize

  • lol so true. not to mention when he hits u with that tiger 1st palms then grabs ur tendons a flesh with his sharpened claws. lol fighting a hung gar shifu means 1 thing death.

  • amen to that.

  • furthermore this is hung ga kung fu it has nothing to do with karate

  • anyone smell bs?

lol i'll invent the style of the rabbit.

    RUN RUN RUN !!!

  • the other guy luaghs at 4:20 xD

  • wow that black guy is fucking huge!

  • 2:54 lollollol xD

  • you know there is only one way to fined out if he is for real or not. and it is to test him ot yourself, until you do that shut the fuk up and have some humbelness you little shit heads.

  • and yea... hes a joke lol

  • no way he's a sifu !

  • OH please, don't make me lough, this cannot be a sifu

  • wicked hes black LIKE MY SEEFU

  • i think the crane example he did wit his fingers wuhs fckin hoo-larious

  • to me, kung fu is a dilemma. the techniques are really old, used by the chinese for centuries so they got to be effective right? but to me they just seem difficult, if not impossible to pull of in a real fight. i mean, striking someones temple or throat with the crane is propably really effective, it's just hard to accomplish when the enemy is throwing punches at you, or tackles you and attemps to strangle you on the ground. guess i'll stick to boxing. i mean no offense, just stating my opinion.

  • its a good opinion. ;) thats why u got to practice kung fu many and many years so that u really can use it in a fight. when u want to learn quick, boxing might be the right for u, but when u want techniques and speed etc. try out kung fu :)

    greetz

  • well, it's true that boxing is a rather straightforward style with no real techniques, but becoming a good boxer still takes time. you need to develope speed, accuracy, power and find your own rythm, then you need to learn how to read your opponents moves to perform counters. any martial art can be learned quick, but being good in it takes time, this applies to any style.

  • true, my dad was a boxer.. so i know that its hard aswell to become good, everybody got his own kind of style he likes, so u r a boxer and i'm in martial arts, 2 different styles, one goal: get good ;) greetz

  • at the same time, boxing is also a martial art. i currently am in kung fu and know enough to practically use it in a fight, though i still have a long way to go. the martial arts aren't just learning to fight, they are a way of life. to truly understand the arts, you must live them and take your training with you wherever you go. also, when practicing fighting techniques, remember that one move can be used in many different ways, there is not only one block to one punch...

  • indeed, you can have kung fu in any skill. Its skill through hard work and commitment. But i feel like when you practice kung fu, your getting the pure thing. uncut. lol

  • I don't mean any offense by this, but shouldn't you try to trim down. You seem to have very good knowledge and skill, but it seems you're too bulky and slow to fight effectively. Sorry for how this sounds, but I'm probably not the first person to mention this.

  • Donald, you're awesome. Respect!

  • Can you make a Sup/Ng Ying Kuen diagram? I'd appreciate school but sadly there's a "gangsta" problem -_-

  • very good hung gar is an interesting style thanks for the vid

  • Don....you're the King.

    Excellent demo!

  • thanks my friend.

  • Is there a fork lift style (Only joking)

  • nice technique really impressed

  • redmans got better kung fu than this dude

  • i swear he lookz sooo crazy

  • hamby reminds me of the doctor who ate jasons heart in jason goes to hell

  • way to break down the techniques.

  • woah....lol, whats with the dragon in the beginning.

  • I don't like the idea that dragon is represented by western dragon... because that's not what the dragon form is based off of.

  • This guy is realy in his own little world...

  • my upper replies goes out to you too knuckle head

  • dear bruceleroy there is only one phony thing in heare, and it is your screen name. but since you are such an expert on hung gar than maybe you should post your videos, or maybe you should come down to our school and teach us the correct way.

  • i would never fight like that... :P

  • jakobff, you probably can't fight at all you little colylight. This is what seperate the masters from tyro's little boy.

  • just saying "I" wouldn't...chill out :P

  • Let me tell you something my friend if you would like to sea him or even me in serious MMA action than stop talking shit and come down to our school and beleave me you vill sea. we can do it any way you want to with gloves , or bare heand and no rools, oh by the way i am his younger brothere classmate, fined out where bucksam kongs schol is and come down and if you realy want bring down your favorite MMA fiter with you

  • That sounds like a challenge! I have a 3rd degree blackbelt in judo and have been doing thai boxing for the last two years to give me an edge with my striking. I guarantee you, you will lose, and you will lose the modern way ... by submission! It is inevitable, all styles of martial art that fail to incorporate ground skills into their system fall to the grappling arts! No disrespect!

  • it is a chalange you little shit head. bring your judo and your thai boxing and we will sea. and by the way i have black belt also, and it is used to hold my pants up. and as farr grapling gose try to use that on a street fight with 10 or 15 cholos on your ass and you will soon discover that you my friend dont know shit about fighting

  • black kung fu!

  • that guy will break you in two.

  • what do you mean, what is so crappy about what you sea, oh may be you think you can do better so pleas show

  • kool shit! This guy knows hung thou

  • Nice and informative video! :D

  • great stuff, great focus in the techniques, this is old school understanding that is lost alot today, just my thought

  • Thank you Sifu Pat

  • Nice explanations and demos, Where can I get those wristbands?

  • this guy reminds me of shaft for some reson....lol...i love hung gar ive studied it for 4 years.....

  • that was awesome!
