and you have the sniper who dose nothing elts but to kill with a spotter (his right hand man) his rifle and the communication between the two.

This is no longer true. Yes, snipers are the long arm of the Battalion Commander, yet they are also very valuable in gathering intel and reporting enemy troop movement and strength. They are being much more utilized than just as the killing machines they were once known. A good sniper is an extremely skilled and intelligent soldier.

I was a designated marksmen for a scout platoon for the 173rd Airborne Brigade while we were deployed in Korengal Valley Afghanistan. I didn't complete the kill but completely tore the leg off a haji at right under 1 mile. We were about 1500 feet higher than the target, though.

Look up the Barrett m99 .416 cal. its effective to 500 meters longer range than the .50., a total of 2.5 kilometers.
