THANK YOU. i wanted to buy one but every one told me its not for this and you cannot use it as a dip station... i am so glad you made this video!!!! going to buy it now.
Discovered this years back. I do dips, squats , leg lifts, pushups. incline chinups using this device got me lean and ripped. Never stepped into a gym again after using this for a total body workout
Great idea. I just picked up one from the Salvation Army thrift store for $8.00. Wish it was $5.00 but seeing as how these things are $60.00+ brand new, I ain't complaining.
Hey man, when doing any exercise you should never lock out your joints it's just asking for joint problems, and shoulders even with elboes too if you go down farther than that your just asking for a torn rotator cuff or something.
This is a great idea and I do the same thing. In fact, I bought a really nice one at a used store yesterday. It does everything a dip station does and it's so cool that it easily folds for easy storage. There are really lots of exercises you can do with one, including work for the triceps. Thanks for the video. Very good.
This is HILARIOUS!!! I was stranded in the hospital with my father in law for a few days and needed to get a workout in. I came up with a bunch of exercises to do using his walker. I thought it was my original idea... guess not. Good video anyway.
BRILLIANT! I had been trying to figure out how to do dips (one of my personal favorite exercises) in my apartment without hitting the gym and then i saw this! My dad's got an old walker chillin in his closet that he never uses, now it has a use!
@mrfranchize02 I lent one of mine to my father-in-law, he really needed it as a walker, I tossed it in the trunk of my car. The next week while at a speed skating workout at a park I busted it out for the team to use. A couple of weeks later there's someone else at the park using one for dips as part of their workout. It's catching on!
@Argenteconomie It's really going to depend on the type of walker you have. The latest one I found at an AMVET thrift store cost me $4.98 and is super heavy duty. Granted I only weigh 150lbs so even adding considerable weight I'm not going to exceed the weight limit. Try the on you have and if it feels wobbly. I wouldn't push the added weight quite so high. One technique you can try is do push-ups say 20 or 30 then immediately perform dips unweighted to total fatigue. Similar effect.
@Argenteconomie-this will give you a similar effect as if adding weights and if you use weights you can use less. You will still be forcing your muscles beyond their current performance level. The only thing your muscles can do in response is get stronger to compensate and that's typically the ultimate goal. Bigger, Stronger, Faster.

This isn't really "home made". You're just taking something else and using it as a dip machine.
For people actually looking to build their own dip machine, this video isn't going to help for ideas. I've never seen a walker at any garage sales I've been to.
@staphinfection Granted I didn't make it, I'm simply taking an item designed for one use and using it for another. The "homemade" I added as a target word for people looking to improvise and save a few dollars on home exercise equipment, most of which is overpriced and over rated. FYI- Thrift stores typically have a variety of walkers for sale.
@grt2sk8 Thank You ! The Info. you provided saved me $150.00 (plus tax).... Ignore Moron's like "staphinfection"...apparently You're too nice to check-him, so I'll do if for you. "HE'S AN IDIOT"!!
@staphinfection Stop Being a Hater... people make millions juts like this... if he spray painthed black and put a sticker on the side $20... he'd sell millions
FUCK YEA, thats exactly what I was looking for, I've spent so much time looking around my apt trying to find some way to rig up a diy dip station, but nothing ever works. im going to run out n get a waker asap thanks bro.
Best homeade dip machine machine ever. I would walk around the neighborhood with it like a cripple, and then just bust out with 20 dips, then back to walking like a cripple. Have fun with your workouts. Ha.
Great idea!!! So simple but i never would have thought of it. Thanks

You can also use the walker for the 'fake old person' practical joke as seen in the movie Jack*&#

@grt2sk8 I'm going to have to make some kind of cushion for the grips. My palms give out b4 my triceps. The gloves don't even seem to help much.

@mrfranchize02 get some foam pipe insulation, like the kind used to cover PVC pipe. That's what I used.

@staphinfection I've seen many walker at yard/estate sales. As of right now, there are over a dozen on craigslist for under 15 dollars.
Why don't you take some sulfamethoxazole and go away...

hmm, if its not sturdy enough maybe you can fill the tubing with concrete to stiffen it up
