there is almost no chronologicality in the armored core series, after every major number sequel the whole story gets a reboot.

Actually there are some teases here and there. Like the AC:4 series being a psudeo prequel to the original or 3 series. Though in general your correct, the only ones that are connected are ones based on the same engine, the longest running being 3 through Last Raven.
