The car pushed a piece of cardboard that was held down at the end by a slight hook. As the car raced by this cardboard piece, it pushed it off the hook allowing the weight on the other end of the string to lift the flag.
We used cardboard cut outs for the screw going around the soda cans. We had a time requirement so this is the place to WASTE that time. Also the wedge is how it started, it was also made out of cardboard into a door stop shape.
