Yes, the islands are largely sinking. However, increased storm surges, exaccerbated periods of drought and larger than average king tides (which are affecting other island nations such as Tuvalu) are also involved in the loss of viability and those extremes are due to global warming. Also, sea levels are set to rise more than a metre by 2050- so they would eventually have to move due to climate change. It isn't a simple as 'yes it's sea level rise' or 'no they're sinking'
So they are going to leave thier homes because of fear of dying from sinking, to come and live in this country with the fear of dying from ,"who knows what "law and order" problems. its seem like they are sheep being through in the midst of wolves :(
what is wrong with you guys?! it´s a proven fact that this is caused by global warming wether you believe it or not - which, welcome to reality: you should.
In the Solomon Islands are the Carteret islands. There, Google Earth shows a Greenpeace marker saying: "the low-lying Carteret Islands are already feeling the effects of sea level rise". It is accompanied by a tear-jerker video about the plight of the population. Greenpeace does not mention that these islands are on the edge of the Ontong Java Plateau, an unstable area of volcanic origin. Why no sea level rises in Tuvalu, while the Carterets are experiencing fast rises.
This is terrible and disasterous. Humans should act as responsible citizens of this planet by cutting the Greenhouse gas emissions. Otherwise, we are killing the unheard people. God bless my countrymen and women.

Relax--the island is sinking (known tectonic activity). This is propaganda. Islands pop out of the ocean, islands sink back into the the ocean. It's what the Earth does.
Note the curious lack of any scientists being interviewed on this "problem". Odd in a documentary, don't you think? They even comment that no scientists are interested in this "problem"! True--only those promoting global warming seem to be interested.

CO2 increases plant growth, whic hties up rain fall, and ends up with sea level falls!

codehead1 - you are so right on with the tectonic activity! I never will understand why people go blind to other causes for such things
