I sure don't mean to demean Victoria Clark. As a whole, she played that role supremely, and owned it. I just was very pleasantly surprised by Andreas in the Chicago tour, when I was expecting to be disappointed. a different take on the role; beautifully sung.
I saw Christine Andreas as Margaret in Chicago twice. I melted in my chair. They should sell a version of the score featuring her. No offense to Victoria Clark
Absolute perfection. I was so haunted by her performance that just the merest hint of her music starts the tearsdrop to flow. Victoria Clark, you are my goddess!
i can honestly dont say what IT is that has gotten me into this show. Saw a bit from it on the tonys and got facinated. Bought the cd and got hooked. Theres just something about it that makes it speciel. Ive been a musical geek for ages and my favorite list can only be narrowed down to about 200 show (: but this got edge and i like it more and more...
I only saw the tour and it was amazing last stop was in chicago and I just happen to pick to go the last day of the national tour and it was amazing. The composer Adam Guettel gave a brief speech at the end and it is something I absolutley treasure this show is a treasure amongst all the other shows that have come and gone through out these past few years of muscial theatre. Do you have any more clips of this it is brilliant
Well, heres somebody else who shares your admiration! I saw The Light in the Piazza TWICE on Broadway(one of those nights was CLOSING NIGHT!), and once on tour! It's my absolute favorite musical of all time! I thank you for loading all of these vids onto youtube!
Y'know, there's a book series called Playbill Yearbook and the 3rd edition has Victoria Clark's entire closing night speech plus some stuff she didn't get to say. You should check it out.
@pianostix OH my gosh YES. It was this recording that made me fall in love with Piazza a few years ago when I first saw it. She is a fabulous actress and teacher!!!! I wish I could meet her sometime. . .
"I can see the winter in your eyes".....has got to be one of the most hauntingly beautiful lyrics ever written in this day and age!

so poignant; more elegant yet arresting than we've seen and heard in quite some time. Timeless, I'd say.

I love this song. Thank God this is the original Margaret. Only she can sing it justice.

Christine Andreas got much better reviews in her 55 week tour. She should have originated the role. She is so magnificent.

To each his own, but the fact still remains Victoria was brilliant in this role and deserved all the awards and acclaim she received.
