Better way to defeat metal sonic AND giant Robotnik. When silver sonic is flying, do a spin dash on his feet, and hit him 4 times. Then do the usual. When Giant Robotnik is targeting you, keep moving. Make sure your close to his lower belly, and do a spin dash until he starts to move

A slightly better strategy for you elitists.

Metal Sonic: If you jump right before he initially lands, you can get a good three hits on him before he even moves. After he spins across the first time, you can easily hit him twice (if your timing is good and you're right next to him when he stops, you can get a third hit in). When he uses his rocket boots, just spin dash in place - if you've hit him six times already, he'll die on his 2nd pass through you. If not, jump on him one more time.

Death Egg: It is possible to hit him while he's walking, as long as both of his arms are lowered (ideally, you want to hit him when his arms are evel with each other). Also, if you line up with the fourth window panel from either the left or right, Robotnik will land with his back to you. Instead of shooting his arms, bombs will pop out of his back. It's very easy to hit him from behind when he walks, as you only have to avoid the fire from his jet pack instead of two arms.

I found out something not too long ago about Sonic the Hedgehog 2; (and I believe the first one also) where if you were to be in de-bug mode for the games and to collect a huge amount of rings in the same spot that were spawned via de-bug mode, Sonic would turn into Shadow for a few seconds. But ONLY in the original games for SEGA Genesis, not in any remakes, like Sonic Mega Collection...

There's an easier way to beat the familar foe...all u have to do is get the right bottom hand corner and use the spin dash [staying at the same place], hit 4 times then release, then spin dash to for each hit when he moves.

Whenever I get the chance, I'll maybe post a video response to show u guys what I mean and how to do it.

He's not that hard, I usually hit him while he's walking. The trick is to ram into his chest at the top of your jump, that way the spikes become a minor issue. Usually, he only gets to throw his fists once, and do his walk twice. :)

What I do, is before Robotnik even comes up out of the ground, I stand behind him, and hit him under the flame 3 times. To get to his back, when the target is on you face one way, for example, left. Keep facing that way until it blinks. Once it blinks, face the other way (right) and run. Once he comes down you can hit him once, he will shoot 2 bombs, once they explode hit him more times. This way is not as fast as yours, but it works too xD.

Ah, there's plenty of ways to go about this guy. Some are more risky though, but this is my preferred method. Of course, even my way has some big risks, since timing is everything.

You can also hit robotnik on his butt underneath the jetpack fire. You can also hit him if you jump over the flame into his back/jetpack area. ^-^

Actually, it's incredibly easy to get behind him. Since he always lands facing whichever direction has the most room, just position him so he lands basically where the M is in jump at 1:47.

It's common to have a hard time with the final boss here. One mistake and you die, and they aren't exactly straightforward either.

No problem. As stated, once you figure him out and get the timing, he's easy. Just remember not to get TOO greedy with your attacks.
