No worry, there is room for both incredible versions. Time will tell if Adam can write music as well as the groups he covers. "Crawl thru Fire" is rock. "Pop Goes the Camera" is more techno. Will we listen to these songs 30 yrs from now?
"Cream?" Serously? This track is SO empty sounding. Although I am a LZ fan had I never heard an LZ song ever in my life, I wouldn't have liked this version. This song REQUIRES the soul that Zep brings to it. The song is all about nailing some girl it definitely needs all the moanin', groanin', and sexing up that's in the LZ version. This reproduction lacks that entirely, this reproduction is sung like he's singing about just trying to date the girl, not nail her- and thus, lacks the soul.
Led Zeppelin's version is untouchable, but come on, you think American Idol, a show primarily watched by tweens and their mothers, is going to let Adam put in the moaning and groaning on the studio track targeted for that audience? That track was made while the show was still airing and was probably made in one day.
Also, I agree that his target audience would require a tamer versions ( for the tweens, the mothers should be quite familiar with the original) but, that just brings the whole idea of the song choice into question. Why would he EVER want to choose any song if he was only allowed to half ass it?
Because it was Rock Week on American Idol, Led Zeppelin is one of his favorite rock bands, and he loves this song. To clarify from earlier, just because Adams version does not include the moaning and groaning that you obviously prefer doesnt make it half-assed. This may have been a rushed production, but maybe Adam intended his version to be faster with more melodic emphasis in the first place. What people find sexy is individual.
Also, if you think Adam doesn't know what this song is about, then I suggest watching some of the videos from the recent concerts. The things he does with the mic stand are completely R-rated, even bordering on NC-17 at one point. I'm stunned that American Idol is even letting him get away with it....not that I'm complaining.
I was at one of the American Idols 09 concerts just recently (did NOT buy tickets, a friend won them and took me) and he sang it exactly like the recording. That's never how I want to hear ANY song live- the vocalist (and usually instrumentalists, however, in this case that's definitely not the same) get the license to do so, but Adam didn't do it (for any of the songs for that matter) and this is where he would be allowed to do a more "truer" version of the song.
I don't like his studio version because it doesn't show all of his potential and vocal skills. Ltsen to the live version and then this and see wich one you like the best!?

Don't you understand he COULDN'T sing the whole version? On a SINGING show do you think that they wanted to hear that guitar solo the original version has? On a show watched by people of all ages, do you think he could include all that moaning? On a show with a LIMITED AIR TIME, do you think he could have sung the real version that's almost 6 minutes long?

LD fans are going to hate what I say, oh well; but I prefer Adam singing Whole Lotta of Love. Adam "adds cream," to the rock classic, and that makes it current. No worry, there is room for both incredible versions. Time will tell if Adam can write music as well as the groups he covers. "Crawl thru Fire" is rock. "Pop Goes the Camera" is more techno. Will we listen to these songs 30 yrs from now?

"Cream?" Serously? This track is SO empty sounding. Although I am a LZ fan had I never heard an LZ song ever in my life, I wouldn't have liked this version. This song REQUIRES the soul that Zep brings to it. The song is all about nailing some girl it definitely needs all the moanin', groanin', and sexing up that's in the LZ version. This reproduction lacks that entirely, this reproduction is sung like he's singing about just trying to date the girl, not nail her- and thus, lacks the soul.

Led Zeppelin's version is untouchable, but come on, you think American Idol, a show primarily watched by tweens and their mothers, is going to let Adam put in the moaning and groaning on the studio track targeted for that audience? That track was made while the show was still airing and was probably made in one day.

Also, I agree that his target audience would require a tamer versions ( for the tweens, the mothers should be quite familiar with the original) but, that just brings the whole idea of the song choice into question. Why would he EVER want to choose any song if he was only allowed to half ass it?

Because it was Rock Week on American Idol, Led Zeppelin is one of his favorite rock bands, and he loves this song. To clarify from earlier, just because Adams version does not include the moaning and groaning that you obviously prefer doesnt make it half-assed. This may have been a rushed production, but maybe Adam intended his version to be faster with more melodic emphasis in the first place. What people find sexy is individual.

Also, if you think Adam doesn't know what this song is about, then I suggest watching some of the videos from the recent concerts. The things he does with the mic stand are completely R-rated, even bordering on NC-17 at one point. I'm stunned that American Idol is even letting him get away with it....not that I'm complaining.

I was at one of the American Idols 09 concerts just recently (did NOT buy tickets, a friend won them and took me) and he sang it exactly like the recording. That's never how I want to hear ANY song live- the vocalist (and usually instrumentalists, however, in this case that's definitely not the same) get the license to do so, but Adam didn't do it (for any of the songs for that matter) and this is where he would be allowed to do a more "truer" version of the song.

I know why he lost. All of America's straight men didn't vote for him because all the girls are going nuts and pulling their hair out over him. ; D And personally, I don't blame the girls for his loss. I mean, I'm one of them, and you can't blame them, can you?

So I see Adam did change the word "woman" to "baby" (from what was in the original on AI, to what is in this recording). Someone else pointed that out; so thanks for including the words, & the clever use of photos. I'd rather Adam stick to being gay, & stop making ambiguous statements like he did in RS mag. --"bi-curious"--what is that all about! At 27, maybe it is time to pick a team. Is this a ploy to keep female fans interested? Adam doesn't need any help; fans/I love him any which way.

well, he was asked SPECIFICALLY if he would ever be bi-curious and he answered honestly. I don't think he meant to bring that up by himself, because clearly it's not a significant part of his sexuality, but he was asked.
