@pdtimmel there is good spots i got trail cam pics of two monsters last year never could get a shot bolth 30 inch deer but very smart saw them twice during season but could not get it done they where bolth on public land i hunt d3 but the x7a x7b are good spots to hunt lots of bucks hope this helps but i cant give up to much on my spot i still got to get the two i got pics of....lol
the national forest has deer but gets hunted pretty hard there are some spots that hold deer best to hunt with a bow before the rifle season starts.but look to b.l.m there are some good spots people don't hunt ;-)
I'm moving to Sacramento, Where is a good area to hunt? Those are some nice deer. I'm from ND and hunting is a way of life, I want to keep it going when I move to Cali. Any help woudl be great. Thanks.
@PdTimmel Honestly, if you want to continue hunting, you might reconsider moving to California. Not only is there almost no public land to hunt (and private landowners know this and charge accordingly) but the CA DFG has so many ridiculous rules and regulations that it is actually more dangerous to hunt in California than most other places. You can't bait animals, which eliminates treestand hunting mostly, and you are not allowed to use radios, which means you're alone out there if you get hurt.
grayboz i live in grass valley and there is some of the best hunting in Nevada county get a blm map and forestry i have seen some huge bucks in the tahoe national forest 30 plus inches
@grayboz Lets see if you got one for a D3 zone you can also hunt in D4 and D5. I spend most my time in Plumas Forest. Its not amazing hunting but it is good. You could also apply for x6 or x7 since those would be around where you live. Far as hunting in those areas I wouldn't have any advice for that.
@grayboz I would really have no idea about that. I just tend to apply for D3 zones and hunt in the plumas national forest. Though I am guessing since it is private land they can do what ever they want and would not be surprised if people have drawings like that. A great place to go would be somewhere like fish and game or search and rescue since they do most of the hunter safety classes and just talk with them. They will have answers for all your questions.
@grayboz california is divided up into zones. If you want to hunt deer in a certain zone you need to put in a application for a tag, and they will do a drawing and if you get picked you get to hunt deer in that zone. If you want to hunt another deer in that zone you get another tag, or you can get a tag for a different zone. You are only allowed to shoot one deer in that zone, and you can't shoot a deer in any zone but the one you have a tag for. It is lame, really lame. But we have to make due
Those look like Mule / Blacktail Crosses. We have some like that over between Redding and Lassen. Beautiful. Especially that one big boy! That's why I like a 30-o6. LOL
We have been lucky to get drawn for x-1 several times as a party with only limited success as you can see in my video. We usually hunt outside of Bartle, Would love some pointers toward other areas in x-1 to help us out. any suggestions?
New hunters so all California deer hunting pointers would be appreciated.
Dont give up on these bucks. They will be in that area this year! Those X-Zone Mule Cross Deer dont get pusheed far. They will be back, the only thing is you might not draw again this year. The biggest group of bucks Ive seen was in 1986 in X-5a ,there were 8 bucks grouped together all legal.Never forget it!
It wasn't so much the distance really but the fact that they were all bunched up. If the big one was there standing by himself I would have probably had him.
They were about 70 yards away so a little far especially with them bunched up like that. No i never saw those ones again that year hopefully i will see them this year I have a rifle tag this year.
anyone who knows where is the best area for quail hunting ! by the way what happened here did they shoot the deers ?

Well. California is not a good place to hunt...
I live here but its very rugged country.
There are bucks big ones. but you have to hike farr.
the farther you walk the more animals you see.
