Still the most exciting and enduring rendition of this great number from the mid 50s,it was always on the radio, even in the days of the BBC Light Programme !, this Capitol 78 still appears in many collections, such was it's popularity. It is also a very fine recording and heard it used very loudly and to great effect last year at a vintage audio fair played on powerful valve operated radiograms, the real way to hear it , and of course all records were 78s !.
Never thought I'd ever hear this song again. mid 60s, my cousin, brother and me, aged around 9 and 10, used to visit our grandparents who had a wind-up gramophone and we always used to belt this one out upstairs in the spare bedroom, much to their annoyance. Happy days!!
Lovely memories, thanks for putting this one on YouTube.
Many greetings from Germany. Whether by Lou Busch and his Orchestra, or Bert Kaempfert - "Zambezi"is a beautiful timeless classic that even today makes a lot of fun and good humor to his doorstep. I have this song as a child at the time the early 70s is very happy when my parents took place on tape (a PHILIPS BERLIN automatic with wooden cabinet!) and flick it still pleased with the fingers. Thanks for uploading.
Form, shape, melody, virtuosity, a beginning, and an end. Modern pop 'music' has all but six of those qualities. Thanks for posting!
