Well, It is a great movie...but I am struggling with understanding the last scenes...the boy torturing animals....how did you interpret it?

The master watches the young boy torture the animals, then when the young boy go's to sleep, the master ties a stone on the back of the boy so he knows how the animals must have felt.. The master then tells him to go back and free the animals of the rock.. And then refers to the golden rule; dont do to people what you wouldn't want to be done to yourself..

(Sorry if my english isn't so well but i hope u understand now =] )

nope, it's not the golden rule, the master just wanted to show his youngster the consequences of his behaviour.

the last scenes refer to the first ones. the young man went to prison and because of that his master commits suicide.

to do penance he gets the stone on a mountain to meditate in those heights.

the statue is buddha, who's actually the role model of every buddhist.

he wants to get his old life back.

Het is dus Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring.... beetje rare titel maar het staat symbool voor fases uit het leven en nog voor andere dingen die in de film naar voor komen. Echt een heel mooie film, moet je zeker eens zien ;)!! Lucie
