  • These graphics look awesome; people just need to shut up and play. You graphic whores should feel lucky you didn't grow up in the Odyssey era.

  • I honestly would have never noticed this game if not for the title which caught my eye among 300 game spines in a "Pre-played" bin

  • I'll admit I really didn't like the gameplay, but I found the story and creations of the various meta-beings and such to have been very interesting.

  • The game is absolutely amazing ! I give them kudos for their unique way to progress in the story - you have to die... I would totally buy this, but...I'm so easily frightened that I would probably scream at the very first ambush of meta-beings ! xD ;; Anyway, I would totally recommend it to all gamers....who dont have such nerves as I do... <:'D ;;

  • Creepy-ass awesome game....

  • if atlus made it, you know it's bad ass

  • For a girl like me, I'd probably give the game a 7/10. It was good, the storyline was awesome. But I just wanted the game to last longer. I hate games that last too short. After I beat the game in what? Like 2 days, I was disappointed at how the game was short. I expected more. Especially for what the protagonist did in the ending with the meta-beings and the Absolute God. Anyways, I never knew the protagonist had a conjoined twin. :)

  • @XElinciaLv20 O_O yuou beat this game in two days?!?!?! It's taken me two Years D8!!! T_T and i don't understand it at all

  • I just saw a ten minute gameplay video of the game, and I have already ordered it now :-)

  • And Kusanagi From ghost in the shell

  • Is this the narrator Elizabeth Mcglynn?

It sounds just like Claudia's voice from the Silent Hill 3 OST!

    AWESOME!

  • Yes it is. She was also the Major in the Ghost in the Shell series.

  • And Helba in .Hack. :D

  • rly weird and creepy dungeon crawler, bought it for the wii, (along with resident evil archives) the wii stoped working cuz we couldn't stop playing it

  • accidently i have this game but i never knew it actually belongs to atlus

  • Comment removed

  • wtf this game never come australia!!!

  • This is one of my favorite games, I've never played another one like it.

  • Very strange. But in a good way. I was thinking of buying it, but I actually dunno. It's so creepy. But looks so good ! Maybe it wont be so creepy if I try it... (:

  • ... That game made me so clueless in the beginning. xD I was like.. "What the hell am I supposed to do here?"

But once you get to figure things out, you're really gonna enjoy it! And plus, it's not your typical RPG game, it actually makes you HAVE to die in certain pars of the game so you could adance to the next chapter. (And the art is SO COOL.)

    Definitely worth trying!

  • this game can become extremely addicting, but thats not a bad thing (:

  • I recently bought this game and I can easily say that I thoroughly enjoy it. The game is very unique in its take on dungeon crawling, and the storyline is different, bizarre, and captivating. That stated I do have very different tastes in entertainment than the mainstream crowd. However I would suggest playing it.

  • its a really strange game really :P if it was with zombies and toher creapy things it would be a perfect horror just some changes

  • This game is very strange. But good. It is the same thing over and over, but it's kinda the point to try to make things different each time. It's one that you actually have to think about. But if you like trying to unravel a unique story and the standard dungeon crawling thing, then it's great. I like it.

  • to like this game you have to be a hard core dungean crawling fan

  • lots of people think this game is bad but i thought it was

    great...just a little different

    and very addictive

  • You can get this for Wii as well yes? I kinda looks like endless grinding in repetitive environments from what I've seen, do correct me if I'm wrong :) I might pick it up.

  • repetitive enviroments? yes.

    endless grinding? yes.

but the spoken grinding is addictive my friend.

  • He reminds me of MC from Persona 3 for some reason.

  • the game is not that great though, i got bore after the first few lv

  • that voice its the lay who plays the major in ghost in the shell

  • I never understanded this game..X(..

  • understood*

  • good game storys great, music rox yet the gameplay needs a bit of improvement

  • I want more RPGs games on the Wii Atlus, I just bought this game and it wasnt that bad from reviews Ive read... keeep em coming...

  • I finished the game. I used the walkthrough and found 4 endings. When I watch the real final ending, I cried. I could feel the impact of the ending, so intense till my heart ached.

The only way to say this game that it is very great to all gamers, both to heart and soul.

Nice job Atlus, Its an amazing game

  • or was it 3 or 4 endings... I forgot. I played months ago. I finished playing it few days before I had to resit my exam. It's just addictive

  • Baroque is like the same kind of rpg as like the Dot Hack games where you go inside dungeons and keep going downwards or at least thats what i played when i rented it but its about 50 times more darker and requires you to die in some parts of the game. i love it

  • i'll say. The game looks great! I might get it sometime.

  • It depends on your definition of good. I saw the reviews as well but Baroque was very unique in its implementation. It requires a bit more strategy than just mowing down monsters floor after floor mainly because it leads to a very quick death. The game is also a bit disturbing, not something to play in the wee hours of the morning.

  • isn't the woman voice actor the one that played the female hacker in the 4 .hack games for the ps2? (not the other 3)

  • Maybe, but I do know that she (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) played Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Talk about top-notch!!

  • Not to mention Jenna Angel in Digital Devil Saga. And hasn't she sung songs for Silent Hill before?

  • yep, nearly all of them

  • I actually think this looks like Persona 3 (the main character seriously looks like the lead in persona 3 lol) and like Galariens: Ash/Rion put together. I would still probably want to check this out.

  • I really see a resemblance.... And I like it!

  • crossbones116 DMC was Capcom's reply to Microsoft's Ninja Gaiden which was basicly a Resident Evil + Ninja Gaiden clone so yea saying Baroque is a copy of a copy doesn't really make sense.

  • Tecmo made Ninja Gaiden. Also I believe DMC came out 8/23/01 in Japan while Ninja Gaiden came out 3/11/04. So if anything Ninja Gaiden would be the one that copied off of DMC, not the other way around.

  • excuse me for the question but are you a Capcom fanboy or something?

Ninja Gaiden appeared in Japan around the 88's and you freaking compare it to something that wasn't heared of for about 13 years later?

  • Excuse me for correcting your misinformation but Ninja Gaiden on XBox was made by a different group of people (still Tecmo but the lead developer has stated that he never played the NES/Famicom versions), in a completely different style. Not to mention the fact that for you to compare DMC to the NES version of NG is completely absurd. Unless you meant the arcade version. In which case it still plays different. DMC was the first major game of that style of design to my knowledge.

  • Also please don't call people fanboys if you have only one comment to back it up. Thanks.

  • So your saying DMC ain't a Ninja Gaiden+Resident Evil mix just because Ninja Gaiden started out in 2d thats just freaking hilarious.

The concept of DMC is still pretty much Ninja Gaiden+Resident Evil the fact that its 3d while Ninja Gaiden was made 3d later this doesn't mean that DMC ain't a mix-up get your facts straight cause with those comments no one can assume that your anything else then a fanboy.

  • Actually I never said anything about Resident Evil. I don't really like the series and never played any of them enough to see similarities. The only part I was saying you were wrong on was the Ninja Gaiden part which I still fail to see. It's been a while since I played the arcade game, but I don't recall DMC playing similar to that version of Ninja Gaiden.

Anyway you might want to tone down the hostility. It doesn't really do much to help you and just makes you look like a reactionary jerk.

  • Dude if you think saying fanboy to someone online where you can honestly just freaking say anything to anybody means i'm being hostile then words fail me.

  • thanks for the entertainment, guys. Nothing as amusing as people arguing on the net. I think it's true, though, that DMC isn't a NG ripoff. It plays differently than the original ones imo.

  • Yeah, this seems like another DMC clone to me.

  • song name?

  • Too bad though...

It sounds awesome with major potential but Nintendo Power rated it pretty low and called it a waste of money.

Might still make a good anime though. =/

    Darn it...

Well TOS 2 is still gonna be sick =D

  • You know, some of these game critics tend to use overused criticisms, like the graphics of a game for example. People might actually like a game if they tried it, but those magazine critics say they shouldn't play it....

  • I got this game knowing full well it got bad reviews, because I wanted something new and unique. Plus, I love STING and I don't trust that they would make a bad game. Unconventional, maybe, but not bad. And the storyline looks freaking awesome. (The opening reminds me enough of Evangelion to warrant an immediate and serious look any day.)

  • so was the game good?

  • I've grown to seriously mistrust professional reviewers. They always give my favorite games low scores! And mainstream games get high scores regardless of whether or not they are actually fun! Although, I was pleasantly suprised to see Persona 3 getting such good scores. Although, I think it deserved a little better......

  • agreed. Reviewers don't seem to value gameplay and depth as much as they say. They're all graphic whores.

  • Oh, part of the reviews was b/c on the dungeons, you use up magic as time goes on, and once magic runs out, your health starts draining. If you die, the plot moves on, and you're alive again, but without your items.

    That's what I heard anyways...

  • yup thats true but however you can prevent that by grabbing some special items that come from when you beat some enemies or something like that and you can even increase your health if you have the right items

  • @sethshazam Good gameplay, Baroque. Pick one. God so happy I only payed 5 dollars for this crap.

  • @sethshazam this is a very hardcore niche title. lots of reviewers do state in there reviews this game was not made for them

  • i hope the ps2 version is good as well, maybe this will finally fill the empty hole that beating persona 3 left... though i never did beat it... i just didnt play it any more because it began to take over my real life o.0

  • definitely on my pre-order list...pay-day just wont come soon enough =(

  • huh wait a minuite is that minato arisato ???? 0_0

  • uhhh, I don't think so. Maybe the character designer for Persona 3 is the same for this game? That would explain a lot.

  • Looks great. The voice actress for the preview played Jenna Angel in the DDS series, right?

  • Yes I am going to have to get this one, seems like a great adition for the Wii!

  • yes more games for wii is always good

  • Looks great ^_~

  • The anime scenes are very much like those of Persona 3 (with the graphic style/colors and use of type).

  • Looks decent.

  • decent????

    looks excelent
