The thing about Satch and why he isn't popular with your everyday person is that his theory and technique are so sound and stable that, it almost has a "generic" quality, almost as if it were a computer generated composition. I LOVE IT!
@nocturnarboreal Thats not a sweep. those are double stops and four string riffs, and he's using his fingers as a sliding bar in order to get his melody out. It gives the music all the grain it needs out of the distortion, but also lets his guitar sing like a vocalist.

@guyglick fyi, I've played the precursor JS100, and even that thing was amazing! 25.5" scale on a 22 fret is ingenious! So much WILD fluttering when you tap, The most resonant intonation ever heard, and even though the Edge 3 sucks, and the PAF Fred aren't too great, they are replaced with PAF Joe's and and Edge 1 bridge. INSANE.
to top that off, he has a 24 fret JS guitar now. Mo' Joe and everything.
It's a pinch harmonic on an open string... Just pick the string and almost at the same time touch it with the fleshy part of your thumb.. He starts with the whammy down, and raises to adjust the tension of the strings! Looks easy, but takes practice!
