@ czastal. a long arm lift kit allows more flex in the suspension and you are able to run bigger tire sizes than a short arm kit. if you want a lift that can take anything and have great preformance tgen go long arm but if its for show just get a short arm kit.
hi, it might be a stupid question but what's the difference between short and long arm lift..? I've got my 2002 2.7crd and gathering infos before I go for the lift. Just dont want to throw away my money on something if I cud better effect and performance with different solution.
Hey im hoping for some input here. you have a 4 inch short arm lift correct? I want the same lift, im wondering how your ride quality is on-road and what exactly did you have in it, as this is my daily driver i need it to be comfortable on road and somewhat capable off road, i dont do too much wheelin. please let me know. thanks
well, I had a 4" lift for a while, but I upgraded to a long arm 6" lift to get better performance offroad (more articulation) and a better ride on the road. The 4" introduces the "deathwobble" to some degree, but with sturdy control arms and good steering stabilizers, it can be managed. The lift did help offroad and increased ground clearance. But, after having driven with my current long arm setup, I'd never go back.
I have wheel spacers. 1.25". The rub is the tread against the rear wheel well. The short control arm on 4" lift pushes wheel backward when smashed, rubbing the rear well.
Brasileiro? Falo Portugues tambem. Morei la entre 1989-1991. Aprendi falar ali. Voces tem Grand Cherokee's ali no Brasil? Eu gostaria muito de passar uns muitos lugares em Jeep no Brasil. Seria otimo.
this may sound like a stupid question but i have a 1999 4.0L V-6 grand cherokee, jst because it doesnt have a v-8, do you think i could still do that?
oh yeah, the V6 can do it too. When in 4-low it would crawl along just fine. With bigger tires you'd want new gears or it would feel gutless and not really crawl anymore. But if you're going to invest big money into a good lift, tires, lockers, etc. I'd recommend doing it to a bigger V8 just for the power and resell value.
In the video I still had 4" lift. I recently had 6" long arm done. Cost was about $3000 parts and labor. I also added OX lockers and 4.10 gears. Jeep will do much more now and MUCH LESS tire rubbing. Big answer is stock drive shafts work fine with 6" lift. :-)
nice jeep i got a 99 wj you do the lift your self. if so was it worth doing or would you of rather dropped a grand and had someone else do it. what brand is it by the way.
this lift was a TerraFlex. I've recently had a long-arm 6" done to it. Also added lockers and 4.10 gears. I'd recommend going straight to long-arm lift as flex is much better and road ride is SWEET. No death wobble and tight steering.

wtf was that sound =P is it a tyre rubbing against something or what
Lokabergslagen 2 years ago
yeah, against the rear wheel well. Rear passenger tire in this clip. Tire is not rubbing on control arm.

isn't it mind boggling how dumb/unobservant people are?!?!

no amount of lift will take that tire rub away its rubbing the control arm theonly way to eliminate that is wheel spacers or an offset rim!

how big are the tires?
CJB90 3 years ago
Tires are 265/70-17 which are 31.5" in diameter. With the taller 6" lift I have now there is no rubbing, and I'm going to upgrade to 33" tires.

Your 4.0 is an inline 6 not a v6. And of course you can still do that without a V8. You've got a great little motor there.

i think i mite to that. how much did the lift and insulation cost you? and a BIG question is did you have to change the drive shafts lifting it 6"??
