I was watching CNN that day. Then, in the afternoon CNN broke in with the news that Jacko had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition. One of those WTF moments. We also lost Ed McMahon two days before.

Last year I went to a funeral of a 62YO woman in our theatre group.
It was a lovely & well-attended send-off, but there was a guy sitting at the back who removed his coat to reveal a T-shirt saying “I shagged [deceased’s name] in 1982!!” Obviously this upset everyone, but he could not be persuaded to remove it or go.
Turns out he was a genuine old flame that some 2-bit TAXPAYER-FUNDED counsellor had encouraged to “confront his past” with ridiculous stunts like this…

A lot of people don"t realize how famous she was in the 70s - a global phenomenon with her show Charlies Angels. She adorned so many magazine covers and so many girls wanted to look just like her. Me included. Hard to imagine anyone else having the same impact as she has had on popular culture.

June 25th 2009. We lost a true angel that day. Did you know Farrah didn't like her smile. She had the best smile ever!!!!!A part of my youth died a year ago today. Sad.

I will always remember having a 'crush' on Farrah when I was younger (late-70's era)...I will never forget her and I certainly hope she is in a better place...I also hope that I can eventually meet her and shake hands with her in "that better place"... nytbyrd - u miss my point. I'm not opposed to your beliefs. Just trying to make a point that Fawett is not an "icon" because she suffered with cancer. My point was that to idolize her is sad to see when there are so many people / children suffering so much worse without the money Fawcett had to receive the care she did. My father sufferered and died from cancer too and it was a heart wrenching thing to watch a loved one suffer. I just don't idolize people for whats on the outside.

nytbrd - thousands of loved ones who've died from cancer and other diseases will never be forgotten for their brave battle, their will to live, the fight they battled to stay with their loved ones. My father was one of those brave loving souls. Fawcett is not more important than the people you have in your life and loved. She was a celebrity - important to those she personally knew - maybe an icon to you and others - nowhere near as important as those who are close to you in your life.

Sharon Tate should be remembered. You want to see a gorgeous blond - check her out on YouTube. She had natural beauty (those eyes were gorgeous) - the smile, hair, everything. Great athelete. Great actress and a natural beauty in her time. No fakeness and she never acted like a dumb blonde to get attention.
