Hey, hehe i was afraid that someone might ask me that question someday :P heh No, i never did... and yea.. ive been thinking alot about trying again... maybe in a ceramic tube of some sort... but all the experinced blacksmiths suggested that i used gas. And gas isnt something i wanna experiment with... :P
But yea.. maybe i could make somekinda of closed box that i could but it in.. but.. sadly i think i have to buy a smaller melting tube. this one was larger than i thought it would be. So it took TOO long to warm it up, and it never got that warm because all the heat "ran" away. but since last time ive uploaded stuff ive been working on my knife making skills.
Have to admit i think its more fun to use hours and hours making knifes and all the stuff that goes with it.. than waiting for some dammed copper to melt :P last time i waited for several hours hehe.
Hey Did you ever melt that copper?
I was watching the video with a little past experience, and it's nice to see someone not afraid to show where they failled.
Melting metal on a forge is okay, but it melts easier if in an enclosed space, like a furnace.
A refractory ceramic tube to act as a furnace body on your forge would do nicely.
