It's Monk!! Yay for Tony Shaloub! And Niles is brilliant as ever. Can't believe it takes so long for him to get together with Daphne, but the tension between them is wonderful and so hilarious!
Rrroow! I loved the part where Niles is battling with Daphne, and it's so obvious he's LOVING it. Reminds me of the scene much later on where they're yelling stuff like "you're too short" and "i hate your unicorn collection," and they end up snogging.
Niles stuck his foot in his mouth when he made those comments to Daphne about the show she was trying to watch. From the sounds of all their conversations at the Crane residence in this part, most everyone was in a bad mood . . . . After all of that after Daphne and Niles finished their ranting, it looks like Niles had an argument orgasm . . . . :)
Funny that Niles wouldn't know what a focus group is. He is a psychiatrist and would know that this is one of the main data collection methods. I love this show and few foibles are just fun to pick at, like Niles and Frasier's perfect dinner with one flaw.
The actress who plays Daphne, Jane Leeves, is British. However, she was born in Ilford, part of London. Her Manchester accent as Daphne is atypical and sounds as quaint to me as I imagine it does to most Americans. It doesn't bother me - it's only when her various relatives mimic her and create an accent that seems to exist only in the show that it gets irritating. Still my one of my favourite shows though.
@angela1894 Oh yes he is. He was born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England and raised in Manchester, England after WWII broke out. . When he joined the United States Army, he dropped his British accent. He became a United States citizen in 1959.
@angela1894 it surprised me too but a brief online search will only take you like a minute of your time to find out he is British. He sounds so rugged American war hero type on the show. He's wonderful. Rumor has it he's gay too. I heard an interview of his and not to judge but he definitely sounds gay, but his British accent is subtle. I think he's spent too much time in the States.
@mozart20dlubos How true. But given the show's lamentable track record when it comes to foreign characters it's hardly surprising. As a Briton of Indian extraction I cannot comprehend either this Indian accent or any of the English accents. Still, an otherwise impeccable programme. I simply skip the accents and enjoy the rest of the show.

Niles and Daphne's argument here was like a carbon copy of another argument they have later on during Season 8...fortunately for Niles the second argument they had ended with more than just a handshake ;)
Whose idea was it to get Tony Shaloub to go birdee num-num? Couldn't they have found a real Indian? Or perhaps just let Tony Shaloub play Tony Shaloub?
"Is this going to be a long conversation? Walk and Talk." haha

One bad review out of 12 Frasier. Doesn't sound bad to me. Now, get over it and go out to dinner.
