@legioner9 VW developed their own unique VR5 and VR6 engines. Also the W12 and W16. VW may not be into F1, but they own the Dakar with their Tuareg.

yeah the passat was designed so that incase of a fontal colision the engine collapses leaving the entire hood space as a buffer zone between the cabin and the object it colides with. this way you have less chances of internal injuries.

incase you were wondering it is NOT a flaw.

i had someone hit me not paying attention and pushing me into traffic at a light...8000 dollars of damage...gotta say very comfortable smash. i wouldnt say its THE SAFEST because there are many other safe cars out there but no it wasnt totaled...they said i need alot more damage...

unfortunately now im stuck with a rebuilt car...with a crap carfax i cant sell so easily all because someone wasnt paying attention...

Actually surprisingly that is the Antifreeze (magenta) that initially comes with the car from VW, my dad has a 2009 CC and we noticed that after he bought it.

I just had a accident with my Passat. There were no lights on the street and my high beams were on. I ran over a divider and struck a pole. My Passat's front right quarter pannel is damaged. Plus, my tire popped and the steering wheel airbag hit me. I'm okay. BMW 3 series and VW Passat 2.0T are safe. It cost $6500 to repair

well in the insurance company where I work the vehicle would be placed as a Constructive Total Loss meaning that it is uneconomical to repair due to the fact that the cost to repair it would be more than 60% of how much the vehicle is worth....we would put it as A Total Loss when it really makes no sense bringing the car back as it would never return anywhere close to its original state aka severely damaged all over

In fact the quality used in making the bmw can be found in the passat too, Its also german. Im not saying that i dont like the bmw, but VW is a pretty good rival.
