if you arent bowling in the right place then speed is nothing. akhtar was lighting fast but very loose. when he got it right he got it right but when he didnt it was poor. i think a mid to high 80's speed with an off stump /just outside off stump line is by far more dangerous purly because the batsman will have to play more of the balls. mcgrath and bond are very good at this.

I just heard news that Brett Lee has announced his retirement from test cricket, in the hope he can extend his career in the limited overs format of the game. Shane Bond has recently done the same. It looks like Shaun Tait will be spearhead for pace attack on Australia's upcoming tour in New Zealand. Go New Zealand!

On the field, the only department lee shines akhtar is consistentcy and wickets.

Lee cannot bowl as fast as akhtar, neither can he swing it like akhtar, but he has better control and length than akhtar.
