  • I dont train jj, it looks damn hard ahaha but i do kickboxing now, maybe later ill go JJ and then maaybe mma when im older, but im not sure if i want to stay with kickboxing, i really love fighting sports! :D

1 question for you guys, do you have a favorite fighter? and why is he your favorite fighter ? :D

  • No I don't train, because I haven't decided where to start. Between GU and a few schools in my area I plan to get started soon!

  • I've started trainning in Jiu Jitsu in June of last year at a gym called Martial Arts Axis in Kingston, Ontario. I can't explain how much it has changed my life. There is so much to learn from trainning Jiu Jitsu, and I feel that I have grown and matured because of it. I love these videos (I learn something new everytime) and I hope you guys keep them coming!

  • yes, I train at The Norfolk Karate Academy with Master Bill Odom

  • Right at 5:11 doesn't it seem like he could wedge his left leg under his opp. arm and use it as a brace to stop the downward pull/ pressure? or no?

  • I love these breakdowns guys. Such insane technical knowledge mixed with so much enthusiasm is fun to see. Keep the breakdowns coming please

  • I don't have anywhere to train :( I live in Norway :(

  • @Tleaf Hvor i Norge bor du? Hvis du bor i nærheten av meg går det an å bli med og grapple litt :) ?

  • @fredrikthepussycat ah I live in trondheim at the moment but I also barely speak norwegian :P

  • @Tleaf You should try out MMA Trondheim. Great Place. I've heard that its a good environment.

  • Yes I train Jiu Jitsu at Gracie Barra Chicago under the Redzovic Bro.

  • Yes. I train in Norway under Jose Carlos from Brazil.

  • Too be honest, i been trying to find a jiu-jitsu trainging camp (so no i dont train). reasons are because the cost to train at the camp (saving for college and gas to go there). heard bad reviews about the places i been looking into. but i think im gonna just bite the bullet and go

  • yes...i train bjj...at home (Malaysia)...learn from youtube, gracie breakdown and gracie university ever since November 2011...ever since my first MMA fight here...check out our fb page...search for Malacca MMA Club...

  • Yes, I train at the Rilion Gracie Association in Green Bay, WI.

  • no i dont trian but after seeing your videos next pay day im buying your classes

  • I started training last year because I needed a new sport after back injuries ended my hockey playing days.

I train Traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu at Minh-Duc, and BJJ at Munduruca (Gracie Winnipeg). The throws and slams in JJJ are proving to be too hard on my back too, so I'm probably just going to stick with Gracie Winnipeg going forward.

  • I train at FIT NHB in Albuquerque.

  • I train and keep it real at Ricardo Almeida's academy in New Jersey!

  • I train at home with my friend, nearest Gracie School is far away.. I hope to train in Torrance one day!

  • I train at Point Blank Gym in Galway, Ireland

  • I've been training for about 4 months now, at the local YMCA. It's great because the classes are small and there is a lot of personal one-on-one instruction. Perfect environment to learn fundamentals. Soon I believe I will move out to the local private school; I have had the opportunity to train with a few of the guys from there and they're great people. BJJ is exactly what I was missing in my life.

  • I do not train outside of watching your videos and practicing on my brother ! I wish I could have you guys as real teachers ! the reason I do not train is because financially it is not possible for me right now it is my dream to train in jiu jitsu and many other mixed martial arts unfortunately where I live they are also very hard to find !

  • yes, ocbjj md

  • Yes...

I train BJJ at Renzo's acadamy in Ottawa, ON Canada!

Fun times indeed...except when I keep getting demoralized by all the beasts and it just makes me want to cry ;(((

    LOL

  • No, finding a serious training partner is a challenge. I do train locally at a Traditional Martial Arts school right now. We do train ground defense, but it's no Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. I have all the requirements for a Gracie Garage, and hope to bring GJJ to my area soon!

  • Nah, I train in Judo. Hantokan Judo Redcliffe. But I am planning to go to a BJJ school soon. Can't wait.

  • I wish me and my family could train but currently I'm stationed in Japan and there is 1 BJJ school but our Japanese sucks and their English does too. So they don't bother explaining that much to someone that is making a mistake because...they don't know how to tell u in English an we don not understand their Japanese. I wish one of your instructors was here...they would make a killing on base...

  • I do train in small school in small town called Šibenik. In gym called Partizan. I been training for 5 months, was traing varius marshal arts for years.

  • Just had my first BJJ class this week at Carlson Gracie Team MMA after relentless inspiration from all these Gracie Breakdown videos I've been watching. I can already tell it's going to change my life. Couldn't sleep that night after class because I was infused with crazy Renergy from all the things I learned.

  • i don't train because i live in a small town is Scotland and there are no BJJ classes although they do japaneese jiu jitsu which i tried and to be honest that's not what i was looking for. They teach ground game technics once a week for about half an hour and it's not worth money. I've learnt more watching UFC, youtube vids, then practising with my friends

  • Yes, I currently train Gracie JJ at home. I have the 100 sq feet of Gracie Home Mats and Combatives. I am currently "flying solo" as the most effective partners I know have temporary schedule conflicts with yours truly. I have trained at other schools that are part of the "extended family," but are primarily focused on competition. Combatives is easily the most common sensed and Reneractive curriculum I've seen. I can't wait to finish and move on in the family's art.

  • No I don't train because I got my elbow dislocated last april 2011 and I can't afford to get it dislocated again since I still can't lift heavy weights.

  • at 12:50, that's so true, I got a dislocated elbow because of that and it put a huge hole in my wallet.

  • At 3:55 he's talking about the ACL. The ACL prevents anterior translation therefore it stretches the ligament and it will sprain it (Grade, 1, 2, or 3 sprain).

  • I train BJJ, at the moment to supplement my weekly training in Judo. There's a proper Judo organisation here in my Finnish hometown for schooling but unfortunately not a similar one for BJJ, so my jiujitsu training at the moment consists of solely me and a few friends, catching up as much as we can from video material, led naturally by the material from your academy (just started observing the Master Cycle blue belt stripe 1 DVD). Placewise, either at the sports complex mats or at home. Respect!

  • Yes, I train jiu Jitsu. I havent been able to regularly as my locak mma gym has foreclosed due to lack of funding. I trained because I love the sport. It is my favourite thing to do, beats everything I have done. I trained for about 9 months and was weeks from entering my first tournament. We not only trained with each other, We also did out side activities. We gathered at out trainers house every ufc night to watch, and went to dinner as a group. BJJ is my favourite thing to do over all.

  • yes i have trained at gracie/barra slidell im waiting to get my taxes lol to get back in. i was nerivous at first because it was all new to me i trained in tkd and boxing but had no clue about bjj. i cant wait to get back to the matts. shout out to coach trey.

  • awsome vid guy still i learn so much each time i watch its a great thing u guys do for students and fight fans alike thnx again.

  • I used to train, but sadly have taken a break while job searching to save some money for moving expenses, etc.

However, I begin the new job in a couple of weeks and there is a place about 10 minutes away that does jiu-jitsu and I am excited to start again!

  • @CycoCross im also waiting to get back to gracie/barra slidell i didnt have the money to keep training, my goal is to get my blue belt. i cant wait to get started again i definately can relate to u man. good luck and keep rollin.

  • Yes I train BJJ, I have trained for almost three years now. I am a blue belt and i live in Gothenburgh Sweden. My sensei is Marcelo Yogui Santiago.

    Love to train BJJ! :D

    peace

  • Hi Guys!

I train with a group called ProMAI MMA and have been with them for the past 3.5 years training MMA.

I'm currently out of action due to knee surgery (ACL reconstruction) and hence am watching a lot of videos on GJJ/BJJ/ MMA as a supplement to actual physical training.

I want to thank you for all the breakdowns you have done in the past as your clarity of instruction and enthusiasm are unsurpassed.

In regards to your Latest video and the reverse calf slicer, again it was an aweso

  • Great breakdown of the slicer guys.

  • I'm happily training at Morales Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in El Centro, CA. Robert Morales is the only black belt in our county and he's an amazing instructor who knows how to explain very well and create a family atmosphere.

  • Yes I do Train Jiu Jitsu. I I train at Evolve Gym in Belfast N.Ireland under Sebastian Torress BJJ

  • I don't train but would love to. The school I would like to attend is to far and with transportation costs an tuition too expensive. The one more near to my house only has men in class and they all look "barra pesada", if you know what I mean. But this ideia is forming in my head and I'm sure I'm gonna find a way someday. Greetings from Portugal. Um abraço.

    osss

  • Yes I try and train by myself at home or with friends but people dont have as big a respect for bjj as they do wrestling here so none of my friends take it seriously. I would like to train at a gym but not only do I not have the money for it I look for my parents approval in things I do. Right now my mother does not like me being into fighting so I wont go against her just yet.

  • @gkmoku You keep doing what you're doing man, Look for local interest clubs, sometimes they're free, and the people there should have some actual experience/knowledge. Good luck.

  • @SAINThoodSEEKER

Oh, I've briefly trained at another school that is part of the "extended family" and is a bit more competition based. While I struggle to aquire a more consistent, fruitful regimen with my current set-up, I wouldn't trade Combatives for all the partners at the other school. I can't wait for my small children to be able to jump in with me one day.

  • nope. don't have the opportunity/money

  • i don't train at the moment. my shoulder AC ligament came off 2nd best in a very hard, very fast americana arm lock while rolling with friends. it also snapped off the tip of my clavical (collar bone). lesson was: watch who you roll with first.

safe to say as soon as i get surgery and i'm over this nasty little injury, i want to set up a Gracie Garage for the masses in Canberra, Australia.

  • I train bjj 2 times a week at the gym in my university, Nanterre, France

  • I have trained recently for the first time. I want to train more again but it's too expensive for me at the moment. I trained at Oliver Fitness in New Zealand. Very cool stuff. Love learning there. Also love learning from you guys on youtube as well =)

  • Yes I train, but I dont discriminate, between gyms, I move around alot, due to work so between training with BTT, Alliance, Gracie Barra, Marcus Soares, Renzo Gracie, no matter what city I end up in I seek out a gym so I can countinue my knowledge base, I want to give my respect to Ralyk about telling people to try multiple gyms before making a decision on a gym, I respect all gyms, and from training many different schools I know the advantages of many different coaches, and there effect on you.

  • Yes. I train at SBGi here in Dublin, Ireland. I keep it real with Gracie patches on my current Gi and would love to keep it even more real with a real Gracie Jiu Jitsu Gi :]

  • No I dont train. I am training muay thai right now. Once I get a solid grasp of muay thai, I'll definitely go train Brazilian jiu jitsu. TRUST ME, it's really tempting to do those moves after you show them but just gotta wait it out.

  • Love the vids i am currently training at seige mma in AZ

  • I started my bjj journey back in late '09 when I purchased the combatives dvds. GC was a dream come true for me bcuz there are no bjj or martial arts schools in my area, yet I've always wanted to learn. My cousin and I have cycled through GC like 3 times now, however due to my funds at the moment, I havent been able to purchase any of the master cycle just yet...I do plan to though.

  • I don't currently train BJJ. I did for a short time and loved it but funds ran out and its rather expensive at the only local gym.

  • I have been training catch wrestling on and off for a few years. Havent trained specifically in BJJ. I am looking at a school in the area though, and am hopeful that finances will be there to start training. That and finding a gi for a 300 pound dude!

  • No, I don't train in BJJ. Working as a Navy Military Police Officer, my schedule shifts from week to week, so just finding time to begin training is hard. One of the guys I use to work with trains in BJJ, but he is on the opposite work cycle, so we can never get together. I definitely want to learn the basics, and then move on to Gracie Combatives, because that would definitely help in my line of work. Digging the videos guys, and thanks from WAY over here in Okinawa!

  • i wouldnt call it training. its more like getting in dicepline because im not training for a fight or tournament. i study at goshin ryu karate. i study jiujit sh and karate

  • So my first response to this post was that I don't train because between work during the day and school at night, I haven't been able to find a school that teaches early in the morning... but with some research, I found two schools and I am meeting with both of them this week and God willing, by the middle of this week, I will either be training either Toronto BJJ or Openmat. I fully intend to stick to this plan since I am fascinated by the sport thanks to your breakdowns

  • I been watching the Gracie Combatives DVD for a year now but is been really hard to find a consistent training partner because of my job as an Air Force flightline maintainer. About six months ago i joined Tenkaichi MMA in Okinawa, Japan. We are keeping it real with Hanasawa and Akamine Sensei . There is a big language barrier but your lessons quickly close the gap. Thank you guys, From Okinawa!!!!

  • Love the video. Come train with us @ ralph gracie jiu jitsu

  • No. I dont train because at first I thought jj was weak and a waste. But as I got into UFC and mma in general I realized jj is definitely a must. And now it's just a matter of when I will start. • Comment removed

  • No, but I don't have money to afford any school, and I don't have any training partner. I just watch videos at home and try the techniques on friends so I can develop some sense in jiu jitsu.

I've also done some training down in Carlson Gracie's gym in Schaumburg, IL. Much respect. Great job guys, as always!

  • I bought some mats and I train at my school, like an unofficial Gracie garage. Sadly I don't train often enough to make it worth it to pay to go to a local club, so I just roll with friends, wrestlers etc. I occasionally teach small groups of scouts, women's self-defense (from your women empowered DVDs), and fellow classmates. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is my sport and has been my love for 15 years. I'm not progressing like I wish I could and am still a purple belt. I should just sign up for Gracie Univ.

I recently went on a christian outreach missions, which sent me to columbia, Missouri which takes up about 70+ hours of my week. I have found a small gym called Cavalo BJJ which i can sneak off when I have any free time to get some great training in. Nothing stops me from training GJJ

  • My daughter is in Bullyproof and I take Kickboxing and Yoga at Bushin Martial Arts. I don't take jiu jitsu classes at Bushin yet.... but I started the Gracie Women Empowerment Course via DVD so I could do it at home.
