  • I loved this band saw them loads of times. My mates all liked the jam; but they where shit they never wrote there own songs and paul weller was an asswipe lol squeeze rock

  • music rebellion..gilsons gonna love it.. noticed most post are within the last yr..squeeze world tour 2012..

  • squeeze. the band that has it all

  • this performance is from about 87 onwards

  • I never felt like William Tell, but there's no way to hate this song! How I miss this, now dead, Brilliantism from the 80's.

  • Heard today in a Walgreens while shopping.

A good song is a good song no matter where you hear it!

  • @bjorn2run Hah! I heard it at a Walgreens in South Florida last night. Otherwise I may have forgotten about it forever. Thanks, Walgreens.

  • This, kids, is what is possible when all 12 notes are used.

  • Great band! Tremenously over looked in America to our detriment.

  • Another classic from the best decade for pop music. Thanks for posting!

  • Jools Holland lights things up with his solo at 2:23

  • maid marion on her tip-toed feet........classic

  • pure joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a fantastic performance! Definitely the most underrated band from the 80s...should have been 20 times more famous!!

  • Unicorns vs. Zombies brought me here. And I'm very grateful for that.

  • jools at 1:06 is priceless

  • such a god dam good song. these guys were so underrated. Tilbrooks voice is one of the best.

  • incredible musicians! what else can you say? those were the good ole dayz!!

  • cool tune takes me back a bit !! thanks for posting.

  • I can never get through this song knowing it was in the game Activision Anthology. I use to own that game & a PlayStation 2 before I gave it to my best friend.

This & how it's a fitting beachside party song.

    The 1980s were great.

  • Check out our vids if u get time. We have former Squeeze bassist Keith Wilkinson in our band!

  • i was a bouncer back during this era..now Im collecting soc security and shooting dope hahahahahahaa

  • Glenn Tilbrook's voice makes me all melty

  • Ha..my pal's sister name was michelle, and he used to pinch her arm muscles and sing this song.. lol. She wasn't amused.

  • Epic.

This song has everything you could ever want, the Jools Holland piano solo should have been shown better though.

  • These were the cream of late 70's/early 80's British bands....

  • i wonder if snails could pull a mussel like strain it and it will be from there shell

  • Still love this song! Thank you Squeeze!

  • The bassist from squeeze is in a new band called The Jar Family, check them out on myspace/facebook.

  • This was an awesome performance! Thanks much for sharing! I have about every cd Squeeze released and their still amazes me. There is such a timelessness to it. Quality has a way of being timeless.

  • i pulledat mussel many times and then it dropped

  • One of the best 80s songs, one of the best 80s bands.

Despite the high tempo the audience seem remarkably static!

    Thanks for posting this.

  • when i was little i thought the lyrics were "Pulling Muscles From A Shell" lol!

  • @cwrhabocp Those are the lyrics...

  • @genericRUSHfan No it's "Pulling Muscles For Michell"

  • @cwrhabocp The title is Pulling Mussels (From The Shell) but (For Michelle) is what the members of the band refer to it as. Though he genuinely IS singing "pulling mussels from a shell.

  • @cwrhabocp no, it's not!! haha! ... look it up

  • Universal music used to have a live version of this song posted that was just awesome. Blistering energy. This one is a little clunky. I wish I could find that damn video! It was filmed when the song actually came out.

  • @Pastalet They still have that version on AOL Music--music.aol.com/video/pulling-mussels-from-the-shell/squeeze/1346561

  • @charlesn212 Yes! Thank you so much! The quality is terrible, but I'm still slappin' it!

  • @charlesn212 thanks very much. much better video

  • Glen Tillbrook is no showman, but at least he's no phony either. Excelent taste as a guitarrist, too!

  • the whole record reminds me of sun-bathing at matt & bunny's house in a black tank suit & completing lusting for Ron Kostas :) good times.....

  • I done it down in Camber Sands..

  • That...Kicked..Ass!

  • they do it down on camber sands they do it at waikiki.........fucking classic lyrics

  • great

  • I saw Squeeze at Wollaton park Nottingham, was anyone else there ?

  • they do it down on camber sands they do it at waikiki.......................fucking classic

  • I LOVED them when they played LIVE in Hamilton, ON. Canada yesterday. They played this song at the end.. for an encore. They were AWESOME!

I HOPE they come back to this area.. maybe the "Sound of Music" festival in Burlington, perhaps?

  • These guys are playing at the Friendship Festival in Hamilton Ontario Canada this coming weekend. This song rocks even after all these years.

  • Slower than the recording, not to my liking in this instance.

  • this is so 1990's or 2000's....who cares...squeeze....rock on

  • Jools Holland back on keyboards??

  • I love Squeeze. Saw them open for Elvis Costello at the San Francisco Warfield Theater about 100 years ago.

  • @MrGuitarHack

I was at that show at the Warfield in 1980...just saw them last night at the Fillmore, and they were spectacular. I had heard a little about them before the EC show, went out and bought Argy Bargy and was hoooked on them ever since

  • loved this song when it came out and still do 23 years later awsome vid

  • Thanks for posting this great vid!

  • awesome!

  • is tht jools holland on piano?!?

  • @TheSkategirl48 They are actually playing this Sunday at state theater in New Brunswick, NJ

  • Best concert I've EVER attended was in New York City back in 1982: The "English Mugs" Tour with Squeeze opening for Elvis Costello and the Attractions.

  • never understood what Glenn is saying in this one. i swear at one point he mentions "maid marions two-toed feet"................still love it though!

  • @OMGitsJustCeci He sings" maid marion on her tip toed feet, pulling mussels from a shell" .... it's apparently a euphanism for him back scuttling so girl on holiday at the back of his chalet...

  • Haha, Jools is loving every minute of it. Great stuff.

  • i alway thought it was about him having a quicky on holiday !!!

  • What the heck, they're trying to be funny or it's my malicious Xrated thoughts LOL!!!

  • The worst track from their Best Of unless one includes the B-sides from their most recent B.O.

  • It gets no better!

  • The first time I ever heard this song, I thought to myself, "Who is Michelle and exactly which muscle is he pulling for her?"

  • @neesayer pulling mussels - it'a a euphemism p,s. Gilson Lavis, one of the great (and underrated) jazz drummers

  • @neesayer I thought the same exact thing because i was a little kid and my sister's name was michelle so it made sense to me. HA!

  • @nyolls It's just as well considering you were a kid and what the phrase 'pulling mussels from a shell' really means!!!

  • @neesayer lol who's michelle?!?

  • They were unstoppable around then. Every song a classic. GT has a passionate and urgent delivery. A pop maestro.

  • LOVE IT

  • I did'nt know David Cameron could play guitar?

  • brill say no more

  • Jools' piano solo is my favorite piano solo of all time! I always rewind it and listen to it about 10 times in a row whenever I listen to this song!

  • Great melody and story telling here. Only the Brits can pull these types of songs off!!

    Love it!

  • over rated boogy piano player ! thought he was the main man? tilbrooks voice and playing was The main focus of the group! good times

  • @rezlerken I think you might be trying to say "boogie".

  • I bow before your English diction . gdfjf i meant 2 say boggie

  • Argybargy is the Best of SQUEEZE.

  • Who cares about the mussels, I'm crying my eyes out now!

  • I like this song, but I just don't get the part about the mussels.

  • I LOVE Glenn Tilbrook's voice! He sure was gorgeous back then. He's going to have to be added to my "hot English muffins" list....

  • @rainwater423 Currently touring the states i believe

  • laurenako is gorgeous tho.

  • the chorus makes you go all funny inside doesn't it?

  • Definitely not Martin Chambers (from the pretenders)

  • Glenn Tilbrook and Jools.. Cool!

  • hi,thnaks for posting, what year was this video taken ?

  • 1987

  • is that jools holland on keyboards?

  • yes

  • Do you have all of this on video? I was in the front row of this show (recorded at some TV studios in Teddington I think) - I had it on a VHS tape but then my house-mate of the time recorded over it - with a South Bank Show special on Tom Jones, for gods-sake! I'd love to see it again.

  • Yes. I'll add the rest over the next few days.
