  • SeaBiscuit himself was in WAR HORSE! -3

  • i would say i want to meet the horse who played Ruffian... but 4 different geldings played her...

  • i was there ,too ;) it was great! visit old friends guys ;D !

  • i got to meet popcorn. he's a sweetheart.

  • I went and visited him at the farm a few years ago. Very cute little guy. Apparently he was the horse they used for the match race scene with War Admiral, though they didn't use any close up shots of his head because they had better looking horses for Biscuit's face, lol.

  • Where is the guy who played Secretariat???

  • @Ivansky1 the horse that played secretariat was trolly boy. they found him because theres a secretariat festival and they have a contest on a secretariat look-alike and he won so they used him in the movie. its really amazing on how trolly boy looks like secretariat they could be twins :) hope this helped and oh they used a different horse for the raceing scenes

  • anyone that knows anything about horses... knows you don't leave a halter on a horse in a pasture..... You only have to see a horse reach a back foot up to scratch an ear once to see why..

  • I remember meeting him at Old Friends a few years ago, he was the horse that ran in the Seabiscuit VS. War Admiral race if I remember right.

  • I got their autographs.... (:

  • How charming!!! :)

  • LOLOLOL!! Just chillin those two!! :)

  • Awesome!

  • may i ask whats the name of the song its groovy i wanna know

  • I have no idea - Just some generic background music provided by the video editing program!

  • @jasm4destiny yeah man damn groovy.

  • Popcorn Deelites lives at Old Friends, Georgetown, KY

  • Actually, they´ve got like 10 horses that played Seabiscuit in the movie... watch the extra..

  • he didn't play him in whole movie!!! he only played him in the race againest war admiral!

  • I've met him!

  • I went to old friens and met him to.

  • This is nice to see. I have the DVD of the movie, have watched it several times over the years, and wondered who the horse was that played Seabiscuit. Popcorn Deelites was perfect!! Glad to see he's having an happy life.

  • Special Ring ran in a couple of Breeders Cups in 2003 or 2004 and was trained by Julio Canini. Popcorn Deelites was a hard tryer and gave a honest effort everytime out. Im happy they have a good life in Kentucky.

  • we went there a few years ago and he bit my arm it hurt! im sooo not lying either.

  • a horse bit me in the shoulder once :D i know how it hurts!

  • yeah lol my mom bought a post card of him just to remind me so mean. haha

  • does this horse get any hay royalties, when they show the movie?

  • i heard 16 horses played Seabiscuit.

  • Ok I know probably none of you believe me but the track they used was louisiana downs and i got to meet one of the horses that played the movie because he span the night at the barn!!!

  • jessie...i know and its a step in the right direction and for a change no horses were hurt, as far as i know. Santa Anita should be applauded for this and hopefully other tracks will follow this example. Millions worldwide watch the BC festival and its not good for racing, when horrific things happen. We all love racing and just want to see it as safe as possible for horses and jokeys. Horses in the usa ofton raced x12 plus per season, now its about six . need to breed for soundness not speed

  • The death toll on the USA tracks is disgraceful. Why you insist on running them on hard dirt surfaces is beyond me. The usa obsession with speed has produced big engines in light frames and so something breaks eventually. Grass has its problems on the bends..if damp..cos horses can slip, but then they tend to slide. This happened the other day when 7 came down, but they all walked away from it and were ok. Deaths in Europe minimal compared to the USA, due to the grass surface. have dvd vg film.

  • well at the World Thoroughbred Breeder's Cup Championships last year and this year have started using synthetic track. Which is supposed to be safer than most tracks. you can look it up if you wanna read more about it. I don't when they will use it on tracks like for the kentucky derby preakness and the belmont.

  • Unfortunately thre have been fatalities, there, too. the rteason Rachel will not race there.

  • Comment removed

  • You mean Rachel Alexandra in the BC? I think the reason here has a name: Zenyatta ; )

Popcorn Deelites seems to like to eat just as much as Seabiscuit : D

  • people make millions every year from thoroughbred horse breeding stallions. why not make them pay a special tax to cover the cost of the waste they produce, so the unlucky offspring dont suffer. the tax would not need to be large and could be split between the stallion owner and mare owner and included in the covering fee. Also surely a small amount of the revenue from gambling on horses could be set aside to run horse sanctuarys for the unlucky one's. what happens to these horses stinks..imo

  • there were like 5 horses that played seabiscuit in the movie!

  • no there were 16 horses.

  • I went to this place and met all the race horses when i went to see the derby. This is old friends equine. Cool!

  • good looking horses

  • i think the movie should ov had more seabiscuit in it if you get what i meen

    good movies though great acting

  • it says at the top that this is ONE of the horses that played seabiscuit and who really cares no matter who played him its still a good movie is it not?

  • that is my almost fav horse movie ever(: the horse is an amazing actor. hehe

  • It was 7 horses playing seabiscuit.

  • Actually, I am not being mean, but the total horses that played Seabicuit in the movie was 10. 10 horses total played him, so it wasn't JUST Popcorn Deelites. I am not saying that Popcorn Deelites DIDN'T play Seabiscuit, I am just say that she/he wasn't the only one. =)

  • but Old Friends ONLY have Popcorn Deelites.

  • I`ve met 2 of the 10, the one at the Kentucky Horse Park, and Riches In Dallas

  • That is so cute I LOVED the movie Seabiscuit it was sad.....

I actually have the breyer model of seabiscuit!! XD he is lov-e-ly

  • to be honest [ not bashin here ], i didnt really like seabiscuit. the movie changed focus so many times durin the movie that it made my head spin. and it made it look like the guy only had one son when he had, i think, 3. but it seemed to focus more on the fords instead of the horses. but thats only my opinion. it was still good durin the horse parts though.

  • howard sold Buicks not Fords. Did we even watch the same movie. It did not focus on "Fords" more than the horses. It focus on the 3 guys and the horse.

  • Maybe the title was throwing you (no bashing here). The movie was the "complete picture" of Howard, Smith, Seabiscuit, and 1930's America all rolled into one. I couldn't personally care less about horses, but this is one of my top 10 all time favorite movies.

  • i watched most of it but didnt get to the end =( it was real good too =) and sad=(

  • man, the film was one flippin AMAZING movie, i cried it was just soo good!!

  • omg i know! ever watched black beauty? it will kill you! that one makes me cry pretty bad

  • ha ha ha.... i hot to pet him when our drill team was at breyerfest cuz i had connections with his handler

  • yup that's him ;) muddy and cute

  • i wonder who else played seabiscuit? but he is so cute!

  • aww how cute

  • cool!

  • Awesome. They are true horses, being muddy and dirty all the time like my horse. Haha

  • they are so darling!

  • Awesome!Ive been to Dream Chase Farm or Old Friends and met him.He is so beautiful

  • I met that horse that played seabiscuit!!! And i am pretty sure that the 1 they used the most died. he was at the kentucky horse park!!!

  • yeah, they used 6 different horses in the film to portray seabiscuit.

  • It is awsome that old friends equine saved that horse!!!

  • They are gorgeous!

  • he looks nothing like seabiscuit...how did they make him look like the famouse race horse? also,

  • He's muddy brown and not particularly tall...

  • That's awesome :) I never want to see that movie again, though. One of the horses that played Biscuit was a throwaway after the movie was filmed and was lucky enough to be found by a retired horse sanctuary. Is Popcorn the one? I forgot ^^'

  • attention seabiscuit fans! one lil' biscuit will be racing soon! her name is Bronze Sea! and by the way thats so cool that u got to meet the actual movie biscuit! you got to meet a real superstar! hahaha

  • why would you want to decrease the amount of horses or any other type of animla????? If somethin needs to be decreased I think it should be people, everybody says that the world is gonna last for millios & millions of more years, ya but put it this way, the world is gonna last the long but there wont be any people on it, we are gonna run out of resources the world is gonna go crazey and people will slowly start to die off and so won't the animals.....

  • My dad met Popcorn Delight (the horse who played Seabiscuit)!

  • There were 10 horses overall that played seabiscuit. 5 for the races & 5 for the other scenes. It says so on the special features of the dvd

  • There were actually two horses that played Seabiscuit...

one that was the racehorse and one for everything else...if you watch the movie, watch how the mane always changes....from a flowing mane on the left to a short darker mane on the right! :D

  • there were more than two.

  • almost in every horse movie, they always use different horses :D like in the young black stallion they used alot of black arabians.

  • actually they used quarter horses

  • yeah i did hear they used one but there were 3 horses that played the part

  • Aw I've been there. Met him and all the others.

Neat place. :] They do great things.

  • God I love horses and I love riding them even more!

  • i love horses

  • Also the horse in race with War Admiral, because there other Seabiscuit couldn't win it >.>;;

  • in the original Seabiscuit movie, they had one of his colts play him, but the poor thing was such a lousy runner that even with the jockey holding back the horse who played Admiral, he still stunk. so the director gave up and plugged in the film of the real match race!

  • I got to see him there last year, he is adorable.

  • They're so cute!!!!

  • Both of them are beautiful! Thanks for posting!

  • there were actually 10 seabiscuits for the movie. they needed one that would rear, one that would stand, one that would be ridden, one that would lay down...etc.

  • I THINK SLAUGHTER SHOULD BE STOPPED!!

its really horrible and cruel and its not fair on horses which could have a bright future so whoever thinks its a good thing well thing about it if it was you!! to me horses are just like humans!!! to if slaughter is a good thing then murder is a good thing!! think about that!

  • You can't compare horse slaughter to Human Murder.think of this.a horse is suffering. you put it down.but then can't burry it cuz of enviromental and health reasons, can't render because it went away with slaughter. what do you do with the horse. send it to the dump. i think not. all aspects need to be looked at when disgusing this subject. I would like to see you come up with the millions of dollars to keep the unwanted horses. not trying to be rude or start something just stating

  • I agree completely, but first there need to be measures to reduce the amount of horses so there arn't the excess numbers, stricter rules placed on the racing industry, and very strict, super enforced rules to make slaughter and transport far, far, far more humane than is.

  • ok love the vid, but where did slaughter come from?! i read all these comments or atleast alittle bit of em and it started some with horse slaughter being good or bad. ITS BAD! all horse slaughter needs to stop! i only beleve in putting them down for a reason like if the horse is too hurt to let it suffer but slaughter is terrible! no matter what, i will never eat horse meet! but other than that great vid! i would love to meet a famous horse!

  • Actually 10 horses played Seabiscuit

  • I've gotten to meet atleast one of the horses that played Seabiscuit. He was at the Kentucky Horse Park. As for the slaughter, if it is stopped then thousands of horses are going to be left with no homes and they will starve to death because noone is feeding them. Slaughter/tansprot needs to become more humane and weather people like it or not it needs to be done, without it there will be more suffering that with it.

  • I agree with you. It's one of those things that break a horse-lovers heart, but real, thoughful animal-lovers know they have to accept because without it, who would house those animals? I think the problem lies in over-breeding. People throw mares at those stallions like they throw dice, simply to gain money offf of some poor 2-yr old.

  • Is it really? cute!

  • who's the horse that races or did neither of those horses race?

  • neither of them raced the one on the right just played seabiscuit in a movie seabiscuit really raced hes dead now

  • Both horses raced. Speical Ring is a graded stakes winner.

  • Title should be changed to "A horse that played Seabiscuit" cuz Dollars for Dallas did a part as well as others.

  • wasn't it" Rich in Dallas?"

  • you know, most horses chosen to play racehorses aren't actually pure thoroughbred...

  • they dont look like thougbreds at all!

    STOP HORSE SLAUGHTER!

GET EVERY ONE TO SIGN A PARITION AND SEND IT OVER TO THE GOVERNMENT PRIMINISTER QUEEN ANY THING JUST STOP THE SLAUGHTER!

  • slaughter isn't wrong, the wrong is the was in which these beautiful creatures are squished into lorries and transported hundreds of miles with no food or water. horses are livestock, but that doesn't mean i support it, i'm against it, but i accept its a fact of life.

  • YES it is! It's horrible!

Don't just stop horse slaughter: Stop ALL slaughter!

  • slaughter in not cruel and is nessesairy. I agree with lindsay, the only thing cruel bout it is the transport that is takes to get to the glue factory and the fear these animals are caused. Things are being done to improve the transport of horses. and though i disagree with the hanging on a horse and slitting it's throat and disagree with slaughter completely it is as lindsay said, a fact of life.

  • hey slaughter is a part of live see like us we came we ate and we die its not we came ate a leaf and died the next day

  • lindsayheyhey1991 you right, and people horse abuse is way worse than slaughter

  • true but i guess sluagther would be alot easier to accept if they weren't hung by a leg to have their throats cut till they bleed to death

  • they're 9/10 gonna be unconscious, and at least they arent shot in the stomach to have their stomach acids corrode their insodes slowly and painfully...

  • Agreed.

After owning a horse that came straight off the meat wagon because she turned out to be a colored TB and not solid has proven this for me.

I'd rather they have amended the methods they use in slaughter then ban it. Some horses just shouldn't be there either. I've had to made some phone calls since they did because of starved horses who had nowhere to go.

  • Actually, popcorn only played him in the starting gates :) I GOT TO PET HIM LOL

  • Who eats all this tough thoroughbred horseflesh?

  • Re: horses to slaughter. Actually, 85% of Thoroughbreds have suffered an injury by the age of 5 that eliminates them from racing. Most are packed onto trucks & driven to the slaughterhouse. They're bludgeoned several times in the face, then dismembered. They're often still alive at this point.

If you Google Canter USA, you'll see lists & photos of hundreds of race horses a rescue org is trying to find homes for. The descriptions of their injuries is nauseating.

  • Sorry but you are way wrong with your %.For the record only 68% of thoroughbreds suffer any injury by the time they are 6 and not 5,and only 24% are sent to the slaughterhouse,24% to much but thanks for your comment!!!

  • Wow. "Only" 68%?! Thank you for showing me the error of my ways.

  • I know,68% is still to much but there you go!!!

  • Have you ever been to tha backside of a race track? You don't have a clue about what goes on there. I've worked in the TB racing industry. Are you even aware of the strides the tracks are making to decrease the number of injuries race horses sustain? NO? Didnt think so. Did you know a horse is more likely to get injured in its stall/paddock then running a race? NO? Didnt think so. So STOP talking umtil you know what is going on. Geez

  • Wish I was. I got to see him when he moved to the Kentucky Horse Park. My barn took a feild trip up there for our last day of the horse camp. I actually have a few pictures of him somewhere around here...

  • Now is the time for all of us horse lovers to step up! Thousands of horses are being slaughtered right now in the US for human consumption.Even Racehorses and pregnant mares are killed. USDA studies show over 92% of horses slaughtered are healthy and 3 out of 10 contain unhealthy chemicals.

  • I Two Step Too died of a cancerous nasal tumor.

  • r u kidding i saw him in real life but he died i didnt know that

  • beautiful horses

  • Fighting Ferrari was a very quiet race horse, so was used close up scenes and riding scenes. Popcorn Deelite was a sprinter, so yes, starting gate. Rich in Dallas was another racehorse, now trying a career as a show horse, he also has been known to visit childrens hospitals. 2 Step 2 died at the Ky Horse Park of cancer. Prisoner of War is now in S. Ca. The other horse were probably trained stunt horses, one had to specialise in laying down and sleeping.

  • lovely video Sea buscuit was a lovely film

  • I've met Fighting Ferrari before. He lives at the Santa Anita Racetrack.

  • I met I 2 Step 2, he played in Seabiscuit also...what about him?

  • I Two Step Two died 2 years ago.

  • omg!!! i didnt know that!!! i met him about 3 years ago...that's very sad... do you know what he died of?

  • there were 10 horses who plaied seabiscuit, 5 runners, for all the race scences, and 5 horses for hte more close up scences like when he is in his stall, or being led around, soz but i don't know their names but i know there was 10 in all

  • there beautiful

  • i thought the main horse who played seabiscuit was Fighting Ferrari

  • Popcorn Deelites was the "Seabiscuit" you saw breaking from the gate. Another actor horse was "I 2 Step Too" who was a fast runner. There were 4 other actor horses who played Seabiscuit in the movie, so perhaps someone out there can say who they are and what they did in the movie!

  • Not 100 % sure, but the times Tobey sits on a horse I think that's Fighting Ferrari XD

  • REALLY? was there? wow!!! i really didnt know that!

  • there were actually ten horses that played Seabiscuit

  • thats so cool that you got to meet him... :D
