Does anyone else recognize this from the movie 2012 in the beginning where Satnam shows Dr. Helmsley the "normal" sun activity? I knew I recognized it from somewhere.

twice in the last 150 years we have been hit by a mass coronal ejection powerful enough to destroy most modern electronic devices we currently use. What are the chances of it happening again soon, better than winning the lottery . what would happen if most of the machines were rendered broken overnight, well not good. Does any one care about this indisputable fact , appears only a few do. What happens when a asteroid falls into the sum,? Does this maybe have anything to do with sun spots ?

Solar spots have nothing to do with comets. AFAIK, its a region on the Sun's surface where the temperature is cooler than its surrounding areas because of the high magnetic fields around that region.

you have me lost in space on AFAIK , can you please put that in english. So now that you have directly observeations to classes of "sun spots" form many solar cycles; as exactly the same from start to finish, do describe the influence a cold foreign body (comet/asteroid of varying compositions) has when it joins with the surface of the sun , not the coronasphere. I know this is a real streach based on a handful of observation of such events, not unlike Jupiter's 2 observed events. TTMAMHIB

Since Comet Encke produces our Taurid meteor showers around avery August, and every December, could it be possible that enough mass torn from the main nucleus could produce the elements neede for a comet storm? All these people talk about all these crazy catastrophies, but if my question has merit, then this is worth calculating isn't it?

Only if the comet is fragmented by tidal forces, like what happened to Shoemaker-Levy-9 before colliding with Jupiter, or if something impacts it (which is very unlikely).

I might be wrong, but that's what can I tell from what I have studied on the topic.

at 1:21 during the magnetic reconnections notice the section of field line that does not reconnect to the line, but is insread stretched to the point that it reconnects it's leading front+ with it's trailing end- , becoming a closed loop system. My opinion is that the simplest basic "matter" is formed in this manner, after becoming a closed loop , that area of enregy begins interactiing with it surroundings as a particulate mass not as a segment of linear super string energy.
