in the commentary altman opines to (neve) campbell that this was probably his favorite performance they shot for the film. he also pointed out that its a great example of the technical and lyrical mastery that the dancers need to have. he didn't need to use fancy camera or editing tricks to let their performances shine. soooooo true. it's a gorgeous, breath-taking moment!

Her hips aren't on it, it just seems they are because her hands are holding the rope right near her hips. If you look closely you can see it going down to her foot.
