In the 1860s the liberals called themselves Republicans. And the liberals freed the slaves against the wishes of the conservatives. Nowadays the liberals call themselves Democrats, and progress continues against the wishes of the conservatives who call themselves Republicans.

Wow you never were taught history were you, no liberals were NOT Republicans in 1860. The Republicans were a Conservative movement that saw that slavery was against thier moral precepts. They were mostly Industrialist Northerners who saw no profit in the enslavement of "Negroes" and worked with the abolitionists to rid the US of slavery. Obama will be voted out after 4 years, you'll see he has less experience than Palin and has the worst policies possible, he'll never be reelected.

The definition of "conservative" is "disposed to preserve existing conditions." The existing condition in the south in 1860 was "slavery is legal." Even in the north, where slavery was not legal, any non-white people were considered far below whites -- non-human, non-citizens, to be loathed and feared.
