There's also no dynamic shadows, and framerate issues. The "Godfather of the FPS" is, if anything, Goldeneye. Seeing as Goldeneye was the first proper FPS with multiplayer that wasn't a broken mess it essentially created the genre. Doom was the first FPS, that's another good one.
100% agree with IGN, Mass Effect 2 IS the best game out there. I played all Halo games and I love them too. But they don't even come close to ME. If you say the core of ME2 is stop the collecters same goes to Halo "stop th flood". That don't say anything abot the game does it?

@whiteganser of course... since character development and gathering your squad to survive the mission was the games focus... sounds like it still did exactly what it was intended to do... and Halo, though very fun in multiplayer, is pretty streamlined now. It still needs alot of refining to its core focus. (I prefer MAG myself, needs some fixing, but its a great first attempt at a game with 256 players a match.)

Halo revolutionized the First Person Shooter Genre. I think alot of assholes that don't know shit forget about that. And also, Mass Effect 2: Great fucking game. @whiteganser I will agree with everything you have said; I simply dislike /Halo/. It did further FPS games into main-stream, and easily defined the genre. Mass Effect 2 didn't have the greatest of a story, but it was entertaining in a whole. :V
Games are simply meant to be enjoyed. I loved playing through each Halo game, regardless; Mass effect was the same for me.

@whiteganser of course... since character development and gathering your squad to survive the mission was the games focus... sounds like it still did exactly what it was intended to do... and Halo, though very fun in multiplayer, is pretty streamlined now. It still needs alot of refining to its core focus. (I prefer MAG myself, needs some fixing, but its a great first attempt at a game with 256 players a match.)
