Marino and Manning are more of a match and that is why Boomer used Marino in the example. It may have been a better idea to use Dan Fouts or Warren Moon instead of Marino to avoid the hurt feelings, though.

I'm on Esiason's side here. As commentators, they're supposed to make comparisons they deem appropriate. It just so happened the man Boomer was comparing Manning with was sitting at the table.
