This song came out in 1989, my mother heard it for the first time not too long after I was born. She always told me that she felt like it was meant for me. She was only 18, still in high school and my father wasn't in the picture. This song described exactly how she felt every time she looked at me. 22 years later, I look down at my 6 month old son and for the first time I can completely understand how she felt. No mateer how bad I feel, he makes everything seem better. He's my world.

This is going to mine and my fiance's wedding song next year. She is in the midst of fighting uterine cancer. She had a hysterectomy to get rid of the cancer, but she starts chemo on the 23rd and radiation shortly after that's over to make sure it stays gone. This song reminds us a lot of each other, and when the chips are down, all either of us has to do is look at the other, and everything is better.
