  • wow!! this is my favorite meal! trying to talk my wife into making me some.. :)

  • not even close to southern style

  • @bullandbullets it's not close to southern style.. but those peas and okra were!! just like my grandma used to make them..

  • She talks so cute.

  • Looks delicious! I have never tried the tortillas. I have used biscuits (and didn't like) so this one looks delicious. I do love heavy dumplings usually but I am sure they are hard to make. I never had Okra mixed with peas. YUM

  • My mom makes this recipe w/tortillas. It's pretty good!

  • Looks just delicious! :)

  • I tend to either make my dumplings from scratch or, if I'm feeling lazy, I'll just use a can of croissants cut into little pieces and balled up.

  • That looks good : )

  • Damn the side dishes just made me drool.

  • I will be trying this recipe tonight...I will be back with feedback. I like the flour tortilla idea. Thank you for sharing...I was looking for an easy recipe and this looks real easy...

  • made it for dinner it was great thanks

  • i love your mom's accent, it sounds just like home sweet home Southwest Virginia.

  • ilove her.. i got some great idea's from her.. im sure it all tasted great!!

  • She sounds and looks like shes so over making this video...

  • I would put cornmeal dumplings in mine, made with buttermilk. There seems to be a lot of controversy about which dumplings are the best.

  • Yummy i wish i knew how to cook that old fashion food.

  • Sorry.. It taste like ass! Seriously my Tennessee grandma wants to have a word with yu'r mom. She said to call it 'Mexican Slop'. I made it and have to agree! I was rooting for it to be good but its nothing like the real stew.

  • thanks so much for this great recipe

  • This better be good! Its snowin in Pittsburgh and I dont have these ingrediance in the kitchen so Im gona run out.

  • got to love them down south mommas; reminds me of mine (:

  • thats kinda ghetto but im sure ill try this lol im poor ass

  • so what do you want, something quick and still tastes good, or something that will keep you in the kitchen all day long. Gosh these recipes are for when you don't have a lot of time people.

  • Its raining here in the West coast and finding this simple video was a blessing! Had a craving for soup this rainy day and the use of tortillas was amazing! Never could get the hand of made from scratch dumplings! Thank you Ms. Evelyn!

  • also Just finished making this and turned out fine :D

  • Doesnt anyone know how to make Dumpling the right way? FLUFFY!!!! these are not Dumpling

  • What a beautiful woman! She's exactly everything wonderful about not just Southern food - but about good food. Thank you for allowing us this glimpse into her kitchen. What a gift.

  • I'm home alone and sick. This looks so good. Can your mom come to my house?

  • I never thought about use tortillas I use can biscuits sometime.

  • My aunt makes her dumplings similar to this, I do know she uses tortillas and her dumplings are about the only ones i eat. Tell your mom Thanks!

  • God Bless you

but it looks A bit redneck to me

  • Your screen name says it all.

  • if you want it quick just use canned dough. i don't though. when i make things i want to know i actually made them

  • I'm not impressed, we made spoon dropped dumplin's as a boy scout.

    on a camp fire!

  • I am going to try this.... thank you for posting.

  • dude your mom is awesome, nice southern old lady. like my grandma. i will be trying this tonight!! how much for the cookbook?? i would actually buy it

  • hahaha "use campbells not a cheap brand". how about making chicken soup from scratch is not hard.

  • people who think they can cook use shortcuts like them.. :P notice how i said think. they achualy cant cook :P

  • Sometimes my arm pits smell like chicken soup. What's up with THAT?

  • what other spices did she put in?

  • oh man. everyone has thier own way and all but chicken and dumplings needs to be made with care imo. its too precious to skimp on. nothing beat a nice thick gravy made with a roux. and the dumpling have to be like fluffy clouds. i use bisquick to make them only cause i have never been successful making t hem from scratch. but i always cringe when i see people making those thin strip style "dumplings" i think its just a missed chance to have something phenomenal!

  • thanks mrs.evelyn it was great my family loves it!

  • whho you go mama. thanks

  • nothing compares to slow-cooked traditional chicken and dumplings

  • Now I'm hungry

  • i love your mama's accent! but i'm a lil aprensensive about the tortillas, i've heard an easy way was those canned biskets thing-ys u know

  • Favorited. Loved the video. Truly alot easier than the way I was gonna make it. Your Mom is awesome.

  • Awesome video! I'm from the south and boy do we love our cookin!

  • What a pleasure to watch a real cook rather than a lah-de-dah chef. This is a house I'd like to pull up to the table.

  • i love this so much it is so easy and simple ... can you show me how to make red beans and rice from the south

  • Boy that's a Sunday supper or dinner. Depending on what side of the river you live on.

  • you might as well just use noodles,,, dumplings are supposed to be big and fluffy,,,

my mom would crack up if she seen this lol

  • yum

  • i use grands biscuts cut into small pieces!

  • Wow what a great idea!

Looks very easy to make especially with the flour tortillas. Thanks for the recipe :)

  • Looks great Mom

  • Im trying this------------Southern mexican dumplins!! lol!!

  • That is some "Southern" cooking for sure! I grew up with noodles more than dumplings in our southern state of NC. We also ate alot of boiled riced with our pulled chicken. I am going to probably boil my two chicken breasts tonight and pull the chicken off and cook with rice. My wife doesn't like to much southern cooking, we grew up within five miles of each other, but ate from different worlds!

Write me with some recipes workerbeeishere at yahoo

  • !!!

  • cool! thanks for sharing your recipe :)
