I have personally seen young people die from heroin overdoses, people have their lives ruined by the abuse of cocaine and other hard drugs. @zhuliu I can see the legalization of marijuana, but I'm just not comfortable with all drugs being legalized. I have personally seen young people die from heroin overdoses, people have their lives ruined by the abuse of cocaine and other hard drugs. I don't want to see an increased uses of these drugs throughout the country. There must be a solution that doesn't end up on the far end of either spectrum; total prohibition or total legalization.

@CGJ80 All drug harm is made worse by prohibition. So for less harm, it’s more important to legalize more harmful drugs. Far more harm comes from prohibition than from widespread drug use. And there’s no good reason to predict that drug use will skyrocket with legalization; that’s the same old false fear that’s been used to prop up the drug war for generations. Besides, with your fence-straddling, you are advocating violent force against non-violent people and their consensual behavior.

What I'm thinking is Hemp could have saved our planet - 25,000 products can be made from hemp from fuel, textiles, clothing, silks, glass, medicine, and on and on. Hemp could have saved tens of millions of trees too, and Hemp restores the nutrients even in bad soil. Hemp does a planet good. Oil comanies and gov'ts are planet killers, as evidenced by the BP oil disaster. Since Hemp can't be patented because it's a plant - oil/gov't would lose trillions of dollars.

I'm not for making every drug legal, but lets face facts. Marijuana is probably the safest thing you can injest. For everyone who argues that its a drug, then so is chocolate because it makes you happy... 10 to 20 billion in tax revenue, logically think about it should we be making money or loseing it for nonviolence?
