  • A Very well Done Video Series.

  • Wow, I wouldn't have thought of grating the butter! Definitely trying that out next time I make a crust. :D

  • If I looked as young as your mother at 76 I'd be extremely happy! Thanks so much for this .

  • I would like to thank you and your mum. I would like to thank you for understanding the importance of passing this along. I would very much like to thank your mum for actually passing it along. It's priceless. No, seriously.

  • For non vegetarians, use lard. It makes a big difference. All flaky pastry in general comes out better using lard.

  • Nice video! Good contribution to YT videos... I'm following the receipt in Brazil!!!

  • English cooking is so under rated!!! Can your mum give us a yorkshire pudding recipe - using beef drippings? Thank you for posting

  • I will try your recipe - but I have a question - can you use all butter?

My husband is English and I'm American, we lived in London for years and loved to go to Cornwall on holiday. If I can turn out an authentic pasty, he will be so happy! It was very helpful to see a demonstration. Thank you for posting.

  • @Bibagirl63 Try half lard and half butter -- the melting point of butter is lower than lard, so doing all butter would probably change the consistency.

  • is it self raising flour, what flour is used to make cornish pasties...

  • no use plain flour

for 2 pasties 8oz plain flour 3oz mixed fat marg/lard 1/2 tsp salt

3 1/2 tbs water rub in methord

good luck i hope they work for you

  • thanks

  • 76?! She looks younger than my mum! They must be a whole lot of goodness in those pasties! ;)

  • Thank you so much for this! I'm American, so I've never had a pasty before, and I can't wait. They look like the tastiest thing in the world. (I think I'm going include carrots, though!)

  • Your mum is class, im now living in finland and now i can have my cp once again. Many thanks.

  • I'm making these tomorrow for a home-sick Englishman. Thanks for the recipe!

  • They look fantastic!

  • But it isn't a cornish pastie without meat!!

  • Delightful! My pasties are in the oven right now - thanks for the inspiration.

  • You mum is Awesome! Made the pasties following her method and they are absolutely amazing. Please pass on my grateful thanks. Great Cook! Great Video!

    Diana Tennant Rules OK!!

  • I am normally used to the Finnish-American Pasties, but when trying the Cornish ones, I like the Cornish ones better. Don't tell anyone though!

  • I just told my Finnish grandmother. She's ticked.

  • The dear of 'er. I always struggle with the pastry, I've never managed to get the right fat ratio (mine shaft proof). My Gran used to travel from Truro to Lincoln in the 70's with a special pasty making plate in her suitcase , she used it to cut out the pastry. All Grans pasties were the same size! Wish I'd payed more attention..but now I'm saved.

  • Your mum is great. You are very lucky to have her.

  • 'ow dun e get somethin' bigger to measure the flour my 'andsome ? tis some boring.

  • Hi Martin, it is great to see Aunty Di's traditional cooking skills being publicized. And useful too! I will be sending it on to Cornish pasty fiend friends!! I will keep an eye out of for future documentaries.

  • GREAT JOB... =D but where is the second part?! =X

  • Thank you, it is on the way
