  • very very nice playing!!!!!

  • Really good! There is one mistake (a wrong tempo relation), but it doesn't matter. The dampening system is just great :-). And the final roll is nice, same one-hand-technique like one of my percussion-friends.

  • Great playing! I was wondering, is there any particular reason as to why you move the playing area around when playing rolls? I found that interesting. You get a great tone out of the timpani!

  • What are those mutes???

  • I am composing a piece for four timpani currently and your playing inspired me! Thanks for this!

  • Awesome! I'm at Illinois State University with David Collier, and playing this on my recital next fall. Question: Are you playing German, or did you use a camera that just recorded the wrong way?

  • @TomFordPercussion

Hey Tom - thanks for your kind words!

The recording is in german setup indeed.....

Good luck and enjoy this great piece!

  • Simply awesome. I played this for my senior recital but was nowhere close to that fluidity. Great dynamic contrast as well.

  • @Duresport

    thx!!!

  • one person got a 3 on this solo.

  • beautiful

  • does anybody know where you can get those mutes?

  • Muito bom !! Parabéns ... Amazing !!

  • Very nice! I loved your damping system. Was this home made?

  • is the image flipped around on this video, or are you playing the timpani the other way round? If it's the latter, then you're awesome.

  • Looks like the standard german setup, I play this way as well

  • @SoulTenor hes playing in german style, look up the berlin phil, thats the way they play timpani, and myself too.

  • @SoulTenor

He is indeed playing with the timpani the other way around, but this is very common in Europe. I play this way too, its just how we learned it. But I also have to say that the other setup makes more sense because the low notes should be at the left of the player as with every melodic instrument there is (piano, vibes etc.).

  • @zuzrwolrd Ive always wondered why Rainer Seegers plays in that direction. Now I know .

  • Great job, really!

  • I've watched multiple videos of this particular solo and wish to challenge it in the future for recitals and such. Excellent performance.

  • Great job! I'm just practicing this as well

  • I like the attention you give to the individual notes... very good job!!
