Hello! Big thumbs up !! I subbed you. (: Would be please consider supporting me in starting my Metal Girls channel by subscribing? I added you to my favorites and playlist! Thank you so much!
I just got into drums and find on Youtube a) a respectful, appreciative bunch that quietly gives thumbs up and B) a loud, aggressive, unappreciative bunch that collectively jumps down the throats of anybody making the slightes error. This video is OK. I got something out of it and it's free, so I'm not complaining.
If you had to be stuck on an island with expert village or justin bieber who would you chose? May someone end me if I have to ever make that decision.
I already set my legs in the O, R, and E positions they did not work out very well so I guess the V is probably the way to go. Thanks for being useful.
Surely you set up a drum kit to the positions you're most comfortable with? And I'm sure he proves this point himself by saying he plays open handed. That's unorthodox so why can't people set their kits up to whatever suits them?
uuum expert village might be crap, but this video did help me.. as a less than beginner drummer, i didnt even know how to position the kick pedals and all that.. so yeah
everytime i search for any tutorial on drums i see this expert village guy,I've even typed : How to set up your drum set ( no expert village ) , but it still dropped me expertvillage tutorials :S
I just got my drum set not too long ago and I'm having trouble positioning everything so that I can play comfortably. I'm actually left-handed but right footed so I think it's safe to say that's the main problem. Things like the ride stand and crash stand get in the way of my snare drum and bass drum and there's just a whole bunch of crap that gets in the way... Help please? :)
@okledd well, you could learn open handed style playing (look it up) or you could save up some extra money to get a slave pedal, the secondary pedal on a double bass pedal that isn't attached directly to a beater. If all else fails, train yourself to be left handed or right footed.
I have never played drums before in my life untill two days ago...I guess you can say I have a hidden talent. I totally owned a 9 Piece piece Premier... Double Bass n all rockin out hard core math rock n back down to some groove metal. I am a guitar player.
I'm not being funny but I stripped my kit down to clean it...So I took the snare drum apart and now the Spring piece underneath won't go back on...It stays slack...The Snare now sounds like a normal Tom...Any tips on how I can get the snapping sound back to the Snare?
@blackatron666 You need to slacken the snares with the switch down, pull the snares tight, tighten the screws to clamp the snares, put the switch up and adjust it with the knob.
ok this is bullshit all these videos iv found only show you how to set this up with a double pedal not 2 bass drums i cant get my hat padal where it needs to be and these videos show me nothing
ive been drumming for bout 5 years now and ive just set up my drum whatever feels comfortable to me . i suggest the same for you guys. dont listen to other people that say "oh thats not right , the base has to be 3.9 inches from the snare " or whatever.
@SmurfTube252 what do you mean "base"? yes i have been plaing for 5 years 1 year on snare for hiskool marching band 1 year base for hiskool and 3 years set for peprallys
@wellseriously: try using the metal spikes on the pedals' base by twisting them until they dig into the surface; it should stop them moving. Carpet is ideal :)
I have no idea why everyone gets so much pleasure out of whining... THANK YOU, EXPERT VILLAGE'S EMPLOYEES, FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO HELP OTHERS. It's better than nothing. :)
When i was into skateboarding i found a vid on here on how to do a 360 flip.. The guy couldnt even land the trick he was teaching. And for guitar hero songs. Joe wills leaves out half of the song and half of the notes and he doesnt even teach it right.
hit me up in my inbox if you have any other questions than what im about to answer. on the legs of your bass drum look underneath to see if there are spikes up inside the bottoms of the rubber stoppers. if there are you can screw the them to the right and the spikes will come out. and lengthen the legs themselves, itll sound better/less wear and tear on your bass drum/ less bass leakage. for the chain on your hi hat could be multiple things hit me up ill help you. :)
Actually your wrong, the technique he uses is open handed, which quite a few drummers use, if your a lefty the hi-hat doesn't necessarily have to be on the right side of the kit... unless a lefty plays cross hands.
You watched the video....and now you make comments..like...don't listen to this guy, set shit up the way you want!! why did you bother to even look at this video? I don't get why people have to be such critics! Not everyone knows how to play or set up the kit thats why videos like this get posted!!
This video is for people to get a basic idea of what everything looks like. Obviously people are going to place everything the way they feel comfortable. It's not an exact science, but people need to know the basics.

thats like a 120 degree angle...

I know someone who followed all of ExpertVillage's tips on drums when he set his kit up. Tuning, positioning, etc...
In the end he needed all new heads because they can't tune a head for anything, and he had to re set his entire kit.
Lots of stress for just a bunch of idiots who own drums. They don't play them. I doubt they are even drummers.

2) What acoustics? Seriously, where did that come from?
I hope they dont have a vid on doing guitar intonation, that would earn you a trip to the guitar store i bet.

sounds shitty just put a pillow in the bass
nicolas0514 2 years ago
you obviously don't know what you're talking about. there are to many pillows or a blanket in the bass drum, if there were none it'd be an echo like sound.

how did you get the sound to sound like that? of the basss drum
AFallFromSin 3 years ago
you have to put a pillow or blanket inside of the bass drum otherwise you will end up with a horrible echoing sound.
does that answer your question?
