@gottsein234 I just have a little comment. Please don't take offense. The bad things you mention in the bible are not promoted by God or the bible, it's simply there. It's part of history, the bible isn't a feel good book that just tells everyone/anyone/myself what we want to hear. It points out the stupidity in our actions and the actions of some people written of in there so to say that this vid is leaving things out id silly. It's just pointing out the good we ought to be a part of. My2cents

the song is actually him trying to promote Jesus' teachings to "Christians" which we have pretty much thrown out the window.

@gottsein234 You see the Old testament Is God trying to put humanity back on the course it was before we became aware of ourselves. and the fact that we pretty much have the ability to do whatever we'd like. He was trying to teach us if we would actually act like human beings and let nature run its course we wouldnt put ourselves into the horrible predicament we're in.

@gottsein234 The bible very much has value in its philisophical teachings, it's historical teachings to a point, Hebrews we're not very straight forward they used artistic expression in writing the bible because that is the way their culture was. and its scientific teachings (if you study quantum physics you find that it was hitting nails on the head before most ancient texts we're I.e. the book of Enoch.

I'm pretty sure the song is about social justice...while ultimately yes, it's about surrendering ourselves to Christ..I mean really, what does that mean?..as Christians saved through God's grace we are to be filled God's abounding love...and to have a desire to share that love with others, as well as sharing the gospel. As Christians filled with the spirit we are to desire social justice, to love our neighbors..far to often we think of our neighbor as our family or friends..its the whole world.

In the Bible, God talks a lot more about social justice: i.e. care for the widow, the orphan, the poor, the foreigner, than does He talk about individual rights (right to life) or fighting against gay marriage. As for the gospel, if we preach salvation for the soul but not for the whole person, that is no gospel. As it says in Matthew 25, it is Christ we serve when we serve the "least of these." If we saw Christians living as in Acts 2, we'd doubtless call them Communist or something similar.

Hey! I never thought of Jesus as a child in the ghetto. He said He was the Truth, the Way and the Life. I know that the churches dont teach it this way but the way I understand that is that he was one with the Truth, the Way and the Life, kind of how a ball player become one with the ball or how an artist might express himself through an artistic creation. The image of Jesus in the ghetto is like Him crying truth out to my soul.

Words or semantics are limited. But truth is universal and sometimes inexpressible. Sometimes you just know something is right or wrong, even if you cant exactly put your finger on it. The spiritual image of Jesus in the ghetto speaks truth and says more to me about myself than what it says about the child in the ghetto.
