I like the way those Pelican cases look . The way you mounted them was ingenious using the wires to hold the cases was smart. I have some 50mm ammo cans mounted on my DR with a frame that I welded myself, it works fairly well, but I like your setup much better. Less bulky and better aesthetics.
Nice job and good planning. If you ever get back into WV give me a shout and we'll go trail riding.
looks very uncomfortable and way over packed...I just dont think I would enjoy taking that piece of crap, overloaded, unstable two wheeler to the grocery store....let alone 6 months through the Americas
i'm in south america what is your route? also you might wan to consider to put a padlock in your cases cause there is no way peolple won't steal your stuff if you don't have any locks
Hey, good luck on your trip. Don't worry about setting a date too much. I ended up leaving 6 months after my original date. Looks like you have everything in order. Have fun and stay safe!
If you need any info on Mexico feel free to ask, I returned recently from mainland Mexico. Also, stay out of Mexico City. Long story but police are stopping non-Mexican's. They got Scott Brady, a few others and myself. $5000 pesos fine...no bueno.
Hey Atlasrider im excited to see your updates as me and a friend want to use the klr650 for our ghengis khan trek from mongolia to russia, i wish you a safe trip have fun and most of all keep your head up and take care.
do you have any power adders? i noticed the exhaust looked kind of big.are you worried at all about having all that weight and mabye not enough power to get up a steep hill?
Don't worry too much of getting robbed as long as you have your stuff locked in your tent before going to bed and pitch tent a bit further away from the highway if you ever plan to do that, though i would strongly recommend never to do a camp night alone. Humans may be only on of the problems when camping in the wilderness, animals may also pose threats specially when there ain't a companion to help you out in case of emergencies. try pitching nearer to or inside cities.
did you cut your kick stand down yet? I think when you have weight in the box on the right side and open it it may want to pull your bike over. experience talking. other than that, Nice set up!!!
Good luck Bill Ride Safe and set up a face book page its easier to maintain on the fly with stills and little video clips..... When you do your Australian adventure you can join me on my fromdawn2dusk com trip Take care my friend.... Martin
@shagg90125 Thanks, I do have a Facebook page that consolidates all my updates from the road. You can "Like" my page and follow. Go to my profile page and click the Facebook icon in my banner.
I'm jealous as well, but maybe not quite as much as svengalie! Are you gonna be able to carry a bit of emergency fuel? I'm kinda surprised that you didn't install a larger tank. Hope you manage to get away soon, and good luck to you. :)
chances are you will have a safe trip with no problems, but just in case you make the wrong turn,a really good GPS,no cheapo's.

@dprider02 The red canister on the back is fuel for my stove, which can run regular gasoline. So I have a liter of emergency fuel.
