they aren't really vicious, if you put your face close to them, they almost always will not bite your face like this- the bird knows the hand is not really a threat, and he is just pecking at it because he doesn't want to be picked up or moved around. Plus, it is HIS territory.The bird doesn't 'think' he is doing anything- he understands what is going on as well as the person he is interacting with. Animals are much more perceptive than people seem to be able to credit them for.

My dad had over one 100 something pigeon as his pet..someone of em got eating by racoons, and cats... so he.. let em free but until this day they still fly back once in awhile to visit. Gosh I miss em already.

Somewhere on YouTube is a person who tries this with a large non venomous snake. He holds his hand near the snakes' head. The snake does not react at first but suddenly it strikes and bites his hand soundly, and it bleeds.

People have been raising pigeons for centuries on every continent man's ever been on. Some are raised for food, some are for feathers or simply for pets. During WWI and II pigeons carried important messages for the Allied Forces that helped us win the war. So don't knock 'em.

Yes, it is rare, bur racers do have such colours. Look at thevideo's about 'De Byter' and you will see such a racing pigeon. He is a hooligan though, and makes me laugh. I had a racing peigeon hen with such colours as well.
