  • I want one of these.. But I'm afraid to get one because all the reviews I've read say its picky with ammo... Anyone able to give me some insight on it?

  • @EPFDWEFC19 get the GI model, its supposed to be more rugged and corretcs that issue

  • I like the way the americans take famous gun from Germany put some new stock and grip and picantiny rail and call this "PTR" confusing people. This is G3 made in USA, call it "G3special" or something so folk can get an idea of what the gun is actually presented.

  • @chizhr lol you've never heard of the CETME

  • @chizhr I like the way you talk out of your ass. I'm hardly a flagwaver---though I am an American---but your introduction of nationalism into the queue here really is quite pathetic in terms of Yank-bashing, not to mention just completely erroneous....and to everyone else: Got my first PTR a few months ago and it has got to be the most fun you can have with your clothes one! Truly a beautiful work of functional art. Save your spare change or work some overtime. Whatever it takes to get one.

  • @longchenpath I have no doubt, that your gun is cool. German G3 is a battle proven efficient rifle. Always respected german gun-makers. However when I first looked at the name "PTR" i thought it is really something new, but I am sorry it is not. Even if you make some small improvements with stocks, grips or whatever it is STILL G3.

  • @chizhr I don't get the impression that anyone here is unaware of, or in denial about, the G3/German origins of the PTR. Made pretty clear in the video, in fact. So, other than silly flag waving and Yank bashing, I can't see your point. Cheers.

  • very nice rifles. mine is chambered in .243 and i hear that it's rather rare to come across those.

anyone else have a ptr91 chambered in .243 Winchester?

  • @AtomicAtari no, and extremely rare. is it custom?

  • God PTR91s are so bad ass. I like them way more than FALs although FALs are fucking sick as well. I just wish .308 wasn't as pricey, then i would probably pick up a PTR.

  • I just got one and I am in love

  • If they made a mp5 i would buy it

  • @TutMirNichts. Your comment regarding the Southern German Newspaper at 0:48 has me scratching my head. If that's not German what may I ask do you believe it to be?

  • Got my paratrooper like brand new condition PTR 91 with a low profile mounted Leupold Prismatic 1x14 optic plus extras including original paperwork, case, various mags, tools etc -- 1400.00 USD.

The scope is great and retails 500.00, but I will mount to another weapon. Thinking of getting a Trijicon TR 23 BAC Amber milspec for her. I have already mounted a GripPod GPS-02 and is a great choice for extra heavy duty grip and Bipod system in one unit.

Gotta say I love it. Accurate & heavy duty!

  • @yaahme Accurate? How accurate?

  • @CharlyRomeo2009 Accurate enough to shoot out the eye of a rat from 300 meters!

  • @yaahme Wow Thats nice if you say so LOL

  • you can spend $2000 for one of these or $600 for a cetme that works just as good

  • @karmalink20

hardly, you would expect to pay 2K for an original g3. I saw a new PTR 91 at a local gun shop last month for $800. The PTR system is far superior to MOST CETME rifles on the market today. Is the 200 buck difference worth it?

  • @supergoat343 I would like to know where you found one for $800. The cheapest I have ever seen is $1295.

  • @karmalink20 I got my PTR91 for about $1150 at a local gun show in Louisville, KY.

  • @karmalink20 atlanticfirearms. com has there battle rifle for 899.00 and there target one for about 1139.00

  • What's up with the newspaper at 0:48... that aint German at all.

  • Not accurate enough for a precision rifle. You cannot reload cases due to violent extraction. Kicks like a mule.

  • @CharlyRomeo2009 your full of shit on all three counts. It uses the Roller-Delayed Blowback system it is extremely accurate because the bolt carrier assembly does not come out of battery until the round is half way downrange which minimizes movement of the gun. you can buy a buffer that will help to prevent mangling of brass keep in mind that this was designed as a BATTLE rifle they did not expect soldiers to pick up spent brass in the middle of a war zone. Recoil is mild unless you're a pussy.

  • @iceman27406 First of all these are all general opinions about the rifle everywere. You know it .I know it . If you can group less than 1MOA. at 100yrds then prove all your points with a video you DUCHBAG.

  • @CharlyRomeo2009 more accurate than most I've shot. I've reloaded all my cases with or without a port buffer, the buffer elliminates the dings completely and the without it any die I know of will reform it. kicks like a mule????? seriously one of the lightest recoiling battle riffle designs I've shot. Honestly one of the most flawless accurate semi-autos I've owned or shot.

  • not accurate enough for a precision rifle.

  • I would be all over a PTR91 GI in black

  • totally just bought one on Gallery of Guns, it was on sale to!

  • PTR Inc. is located in Connecticut, correct?

  • What happened to the other video?

  • Wtf at 1:10 ramirez should be fighting the russian army with a thoothpick

  • I purchased an original PTR91F about 6 months back.. it wouldn't fire anything I ran through it. Even match grade. Cleaned it, took it to a gun smith.. couldn't do a thing with it. Ended up selling it. If I had to do it again i would buy the G1 version which is supposedly not as picky with ammo.. but still it kind of painted a bad picture for me and I don't think I would buy another.

  • May I have a PTR-93 please, with an order of PTR-94's on the side.

  • lokks like the G3

  • @marius55100

because it basically is a g3, it's an american copy of the hk91 which is a heavy barreled machine gun, upgraded variant of the g3.

  • I love the look of the PTR rifles, and I'm excited about the PTR-44, but I really want to see the PTR-91's roller-delayed blowback put head to head against an AR-10. Noveske prides itself with being high-end, but if PTR can prove that their rifles group just as good, then I'll be sold.

  • @OptimusGonzoo mine shoots better than both the AR-10 my brother had and the one that my old boss has, I'm using a Hensoldt in a claw mount I find that it recoils lighter too. just my experience yours may vary

  • I really like you guys line of products. I feel like roller delayed blowback is declining in popularity, but I am not quite sure why.

  • in love

  • You guys need to make HK 33 and HK 53 clones to complete your selections. Relive the good old days of Heckler und Koch!!!!

  • @marco6981

Agreed completely! I emailed PTR and asked them if they would be making an HK in .223/5.56. The representative said unfortunately there are currently no plans at this time, but they'd get in touch if that changed.

  • This is very well made video.

  • The HK series is nice due to a huge variety of parts and cheap factory mags currently avaiulable. No rifle has the no tools/quick change claw mount optics possibility, either, unless you have an aftermarket throw lever mount. Mags are as cheap as $1 right now. As soon as I can afford it I am buying the PTR 91 sniper model with the fluted heavy barrel, and I am dreaming of a PTR 93 in 5.56 so make it, PTR ! !

  • @00McBragg That's what the Vector V93 is for. Quality and customer service is top notch. Yes they still make them upon request.

  • I have a relatively recent (late 2008) PTR 91 with the Thompson Center heavy match barrel. it is getting 2 MOA with an Eotech and 3 types of military surplus ammo. I have yet to have a chambering or firing problem, except for on Chinese round that had a super hard primer that would not fire (out of several hundred such rounds fired) The PTR 91 is top flight and is now my main battle rifle. BTW I own an original HK 91 and the PTR is every bit as good in quality and accuracy

  • if only they fluted the chambers the same way the hk's were they wouldn't so fussy on their ammo. Oh well

  • Can someone please tell me what model PTR at minute 0:25? It has the different fore grip and is scoped.

  • @Nottastalker MSG91 have love it

  • Bought my PTR91 last year and I love it. I knew the first time I picked it up and fired that it was my favorite battle rifle. It dents brass but since it throws it 20 yards out front and to the right, good luck finding it anyway. Invest in a port buffer and brass catcher if you reload.

  • 7.92 kurz version?

Or are they innovating in the field at all? I am sure they could come up with some great new ideas!!

  • yeah, fire some hornady 168 grain match factory loads, the A-max or the hp's out of this PTR91Fs the standard model. 2700 FPS, near perfectly sighted in with my scope which is a 4 power. 15 below F i smacked 6 inch steel plates @ 330 yards with real cold bore. and just the other day, i had to get hornady A-MaXes, though my rifle was sighted in for hornady hollow points, but same grain. and was still sighted in.

  • thats it, im getting one. it will take about 2 months before i have the moneys but everything i can find on the internet about these sounds good and any cons i can think of or read about in forums is superseded by my opinion that their just so badass.

  • @ZuluComander Look for an older JLD model, the newer ones dont cycle surplus ammo

  • @Italy42180 today i put a newer PTR model on layaway i know it will be more picky about ammo but im after precision and i also dont have to worry about bolt gap issues. thanks for the advice anyways

  • @ZuluComander Cool man, I hear they eat wolf just fine.

  • @Italy42180 do you know if the ptr likes MFS ammo i can get that stuff pretty cheap locally. i know i need to look out for tar sealed ammo, i dont know if that stuff is or not or if its corrosive

  • @ZuluComander I dont know about MFS ammo, the rifle should come with a list of ammo that will not cycle. If you are after accuracy give Fiocchi ammo a shot, it cycles reliably and runs a little on the hot side

  • Comment removed

  • @ZuluComander

MFS is a Hungarian ammunition company that also produces the ammunition for that countries military. It is not corrosive and the brass is surprisingly good for reloading.

It makes premium quality custom ammo only available to miitary/police units.......hopefully that has rubbed off on the commercial stuff too, but I doubt it. Its probably comparable to wolf.

  • Does the PTR-91 have a last shot bolt hold open?

  • @WenchesOfRedemption it does not

  • another thing PTR did that sets them apart from the H&K guns is they made the flutes too shallow so you can't use hardly any surplus ammo. That is what turns me off most to this rifle. I would rather have flawless function in harsh conditions than a little bit more accuracy.

  • I can't get over how smooth the firing on these are!

  • Love the PTRs guys. I have a SC that's just a beast, and I'm thinking of getting a MSG-91. Is that the 1/2 MOA rifle the Officer is referring to above?
