Snape has a confused history, so let my clarify it..He pretended to be a Death Eater. He killed Dumbledore because that's what he told him to do. He also killed him, because he made the Unbreakable Vow to Narcissa, and said he'd protect Draco, and kill Dumbledore if Draco couldn't. Even though he hated Harry, he never let him die. He sacrificed himself for Harry AND for Lily. Any more questions, please reply.

He was actually a Death Eater not pretending to be one, although regretted it later on after he told Voldemort the Prophecy and Voldemort killed Lily whom he loved. He killed Dumbldore because he would've die anyways and to gain Tom's trust again and because he knew Draco couldn't do it. He wouldn't let Hary die because he loved Lily and athough he appeared to be on both sides, I think he is a hero. Srry if me corecting u seems mean i just wanted to clarify
