@bellini1992 ask Z3 owners about BMW build quality (suspension separating from unibody) , BMW engines don't tend to last as long Volvo's engines. The XC90T6 was crap due to weak GM transmissions but BMW uses GM as a transmission supplier too. The other XC90s are fine. BMW and VW SUVs tend to be way to heavy which hurts their performance and the excess weight is detrimental in a rollover. I'll take a Volvo XC60 T6 and spank your 35d XDrive for less money.

From the video, obvious that Toureg are better in the off-road then the XC90. That is probably due to the low gear options in the Toureg.

But XC90 perform better on the road.

Do most of us really go off-road as per the video? The most woul be slightly off the road and onto a fairly even dirt track or the beach. In which case, the XC90 is very relevant.

If I am gonna be on real off-road, I might as well get a Landcruiser or Pajero or Patrol.

Yeah i have a v8 touareg and a 4.7 liter g cherokee. Clearly, the VW owns it in evry possible way. The jeep has died so many times and it cant do much but waste gas... touareg doesnt get better milage, but it sounds better, runs better, looks better and is more reliable.

I have driven the Touareg in the past, and I couldnt really find anything wrong with its steering.

Considering the fact that you can adjust the ground clearence for a lower gravity center, and the fact that the Cayenne (wich is the best handling SUV) is built on the same platform, I cant really see how the steering would be bad or inferior to that of the Volvo (company wich is constantly obsesed with safety).

I just believe you added the - for steering so the Volvo wouldnt seem inferior.

I don't know what has been said in the video because I don't speak german but the articles I've read conclude that both Volvo and Volkswagen handle bad while taking turns. Volkswagen becomes more stable and obedient on "sport mode" with lowered suspention but that worsens the comfort.

The best cars on track are BMW and Audi Q7 but they suck offroad.

The only SUV in the world that is good in both situations is Porsche Cayenne.

Whilst I cannot attest to the offroad ability of the VW or Volvo's I would have to admit that the VW is a better steer. That said, we are comparing cumbersome 2 ton light trucks on dynamics... I only have a XC90 because it has one of the best and most flexible interiors. That said, if I didn't need 6 seats I would get a 5 series in a flash. Although I don't like the BMW badge the dynamics are (generally) much better than any Volvo or Volkswagen

That's unfair. They used the V8 touareg, when they could have used the masive V10 5 liter diesel with would destroy that volvo with ease. Not to mention the W 12 6 liter petrol with 450 BHp if u want to talk acceleration. So it's simply unfair to use the bigest motor available for the volvo and use a medium motor for the vw.
