  • yo how doo u get that tone man its sick treble bass mid distortion reverb aha plz comment back

  • It's all Gibson Les Paul through Marshall JVM valve amp. No other effects, just light overdrive from amp and adjust eq to taste. Cheers.

  • and u gotta put to to neck pick up with the tone on the guitar to 0

  • I basically want to play in my room with my Gibson Les Paul hooked up to a custom 2x12 bogner v30.

  • dude he shows you how to play it in the vid?? and its pretty easy to figure out

  • You're welcome! Keep this up and you'll get lots of people watching your lessons. It's really authentic, not like some others who get close, but not exactly what's originally being played (sorry, guys!).

  • Very, very good! Bravo!

  • Thank you...

  • Truly a classic riff! I uploaded my cover of this as well. I like your vibrato on the last notes of the riff. 5 stars :)

  • Thank you.

I checked yours out, you really are very talented - the feel you put in your solos is excellent.

  • Anyone know what kind of EFFECTS he is using? Sorry, you can call me a noob :P

  • There are no effects on this, it is just valve overdrive from the amp. Cheers....

  • JVM 410C ???

    Nice lesson

  • Yes, well spotted....

  • That's the way I play it too, except the part after the cool riff, I play as an a, but they both sound cool. Nice job.

  • nice vid.... :)

  • Probably one of the most recognizable riffs out there.

  • Nice tone.

  • ur a fag

  • fuck u... period lawl

u cant compare some Jonas Brothers bullshit to this...wtf is wrong with you?

this is classic !!! easy yet so awesome ... if u say some spoiled little brat can play this better than Clapton then ur truly retarded :)

im not even a big Clapton fan lawl (if ull be trying to say that im just being an angry fan).

  • Hey thanks for sharing. Awesome job.

Still waiting on your 'better' version, kel, or are you just all hat and no cattle??

  • nice man, rly helpd

  • Ah, there's no feeling in this version that you're playing, it's all very stiff and uncomfortable, I'm going to post my version, this is really kind of annoying to listen to sometimes, I understand it's a simple lesson, but still...

  • wow, give me a break....

  • From what?

  • Comment removed

  • dumbass, I know that. I said it at the end of my message.

  • yep... still waiting for your "amazing" version...

  • subscribe in the meantime ;)

  • dude you got a nice marshal how many watts is it... lol the guitarist in my bands got one like 1/2 that size and its 150 so i bet that thing can blow the roof off a house lol......(im the drummer)

  • ther is tons of ways but is ther any tabs of the original version

  • Hmmmm... Buy a tab book?

  • that riff can be played a whole bunch of ways

  • awesome

  • Awsome riff!!

  • I see a lot of people complaining about some little detail of the way the riff is played, I'm just learning to play and I find these quick riff lessons perfect for me, I have a simple and inexpensive line 6 spider 3 amp(75watt) and a Epiphone Les Paul Custom and the riffs sound great to me and my friends, and really, if your good enough to spot the little differences, wouldn't you have moved on to more complex lessons or something ......Keep up the good work man, it's appreciated

  • Thanks - You've definitely got the point of these lessons...cheers

  • I can''t tell what frets your playing no help at all

  • yeah well you should hear them, all guitarists i can think of have a hearing capability, if you are deaf then i can see why you have a problem playing guitar

  • yeah

  • i think it sounds just like eric clapton but not as on because well, he made the song. lol ;P good job. thanks

  • i'm loving the jvm. what model is that? not like it matters for now.. haha.

  • this is too flat sounding, u need to let the notes roll

  • the lesson is wrong at some parts...

  • I'm loving this distortion. Nice tutorial, man!

  • that distorcion sound really good, i have a marshall and i want my marshall sound like that, can you tell me the gain you are using? in waht number is it? if you can, pass me the complete configuration, also de eqalizator

    thanks =)

  • Different Marshall models will be different, but on my JVM 410 I'm using the OD1 Orange Channel, Gain=4, Equalisation pretty flat, back off the volume on the guitar a touch to clean it up a bit...good luck

  • i didn´understand the most part of the configuracion, i don´t speak your language,

supouse yo have only 5 controllers for the overdrive: volme, gain, bass, contour and treble, also yo have the controllers of the guitar: how would you configurate this amp (Marshall MG15w) for it sound like yours? or only similar

    sorry and thanks

  • what distortion are u ssing

  • The distortion is overdrive from the Marshall JVM amp.

    Cheers...

  • Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question, this is an awesome site, I wish I could download the whole thing into my computer. You are a great instructor.

  • thats hard i do it this way and dont insult me am not that good:3rd string:121210 4th upper string121110 not the full son g but a bit of it it sounds cool

  • Hey, I don't insult anyone...

I can't quite work out what you mean by how you play it, but if it sounds good then that's all that matters - no rules!

    Cheers...

  • WOW I just watched your video and realized , that I've been playing this wrong

  • claptons way is a different song

  • but this is not the original way to play, the chorus is all wrong, and I'm not lying!

  • so let we know the right thing

  • Clapton, you see in EVERY live version of him, when he went to the chorus, he went down the nest to the 2nd fret for the A chord... The riff is good here, but this guy messed up the chorus part...

  • I mean he got the riff right, but the chorus is all wrong!

  • it isnt u fag

  • well it's good notes, but at the wrong place I mean... I mean Eric Clapton played it all the way down on the real A chord... Not higher on the fret board like that... It's the right notes, but not the original place...

  • Well, did he say he was giving a lesson on the exact way Clapton played it? No! Does it sound right? Yes!

  • ur tone sounds more like the hendrix cover on youtube, i use the neck pickup with the tone knob set low and little distortion. not sure if u do the same. still sounds good though

  • epiphone or gibson.

  • Gibson Les Paul Custom - with Marshall JVM410C - almost same set up as you ! Cheers.

  • Okay, I'm having problems seeing what your chords are. After the intro riff and you get into chords, can't really tell what fingers are being used... anyone out there want to help me out?

  • The first chords are D7-D7-C7-D7, the fingering for the D7 being

    E:10

    A:12

    D:10

    G:11

down two frets for the C7

    Hope that help....cheers.

  • Great teaching style, man. Lots of lessons take soooooo much time saying what finger is on what fret and what string, which I can freeking SEE. You go nice and slow, good lighting (thanks just for that), and makes it a good lesson to follow with. I've been looking for a lesson for this song that shows chords instead of just individual strings, and here you are. You're on my Favorites list, and I'll be watching this over and over. Thanks man, take care.

  • Great to hear they're helping - thanks for the appreciation.

  • Another I played when I started out, only I have remade this song into a much more brutal and darker riff.. Yours sounds awesome, and is the way I always played it, and still do to stay to the original.

  • I would record it on video and post it but afraid some will steal it and say they thought of it themselves..

  • actually linkbulletbill, in the studio he did what classic did bot then during live he plays the exact same thing in an open chord but its the same notes good eye

  • You got one part wrong, because when I saw Eric Clapton play it he went all the way to the 2nd fret, to make the A string, for "I've been waiting so long..." But still there's many places to make an A chord...

  • i still love this playing this song. brings back memories.

  • OMG! you have a JVM marshall! (lucky)

  • ahh yeah tremendous riff dude love it!!!
