Has anyone thats posted actually played hockey/used wrist guards? They aren't designed to knock people out. They are designed to stop bones from breaking due to slashes, but thin enough as to not impede wrist action. . Trust me they usually don't even stop bruising from a slash. If you search here using "Sheldon Souray cheapshots Craig Weller" you'll find a slo-mo angle of this fight. It is very clear that Souray intentionally uses the wrist guard as a weapon in this fight.
What I hate about this is the hypocrisy of the NHL. Souray intentionally threw forearms at Weller and deliberately drilled him with the plastic wrist guard. He hit him with the guard 2 or 3 times. Just a note about the wrist guard. I'm not sure if it's used in the fight for his advantage or not, or whatever, but Souray is having a meeting with the NHL's head of discipline about it. He's not expected to face any discipline, but is expected to be warned, and if he fights with it on again can face suspension.

it is hard clear thick plastic (i assume to hide it from scrutiny) and it completely covers the underside of his wrist at the base of his palm and extends through the forearm under his jersey, the part of his wrist he was using to strike Weller with 5 times. Thats why Souray did not use a backhand.

Just a note about the wrist guard. I'm not sure if it's used in the fight for his advantage or not, or whatever, but Souray is having a meeting with the NHL's head of discipline about it. He's not expected to face any discipline, but is expected to be warned, and if he fights with it on again can face suspension.
Like I said I'm neutral here, even being a Wild fan, but it sounds as if the NHL isn't too keen on it.

If you pause the fight at a 1:16 clearly the wrist brace does not go over his fist.
