  • Can I take my wifes last name?

  • Comment removed

  • Latino women need to be your wife rockmycity.info

  • and jayar....sorry

  • jeeeez stop talking! let ana or cenk say something too!

  • Cenk is undeseving of sitting next to that smoking greek gal. oddly greek chick are about as submissive as they get. they love sex and love a dude taking charge.

  • Feminazism is dying! Yes!

  • In my entire life I've only met one woman who kept her maiden name. Maybe it's just where I live? If I was a woman I'd keep my name. I would never expect a woman to change her name to mine.

Okay marriage has not been romanticized in the media in the last 15 years. They're aren't many 'super couples' out there anymore on tv. It's often depicted as something unobtainable or fruitless.

To answer JR's question: I think it has more to do with financial independence too.

  • holy moly..

Perfect cleavage on Ana in this video.. wut a heavenly beauty..

I'm Bobby Jindal and I approve of dem titties!!

  • But she always throws the hair over it when she shows it! Argh!

  • lulz.. she's being a fucking tease...

  • I was hoping some of the other vids would show more of her, because in the interview she gets so little screen time. Haven't watched the full episode, or the "uncensored post show" LOL

  • "you've got no expertise, but you're black...go ahead make up a reason"

    goddamn i love this show

  • i have not changed m name

  • Ana gets squeemish. I think she's worried about saying something dumb in front of a smarter woman

  • I have never seen Ana say anything smart.

She just seems like an eye candy who got a job because of her looks.

  • Perhaps Cenk and his wife should both change their last names to Uygurlang or Languygur.

  • @upplsuckimcool16

I get the feeling the person who made the ads is not a native English speaker and meant to have it say "Make a cartoon that looks just like you" Word order is one of the harder things to get right in a language you're learning.

  • She starts off saying that this study took place in a very small area, then goes on to say if you go 20 miles west the standard changes dramatically. I sense some disconnection.

Her third "theory" was that woman who take on jobs that are more common for men are more likely to take their husbands name to"balance" their femininity, but wouldn't college educated women have jobs more common to men? According to that theory they should take their husbands name more often which is not the case

  • I don't want to create a cartoon you pricks.

  • @SirPwn4lot

LOL I don't mind that add that much because it is short BUT I cannot STRAND and also cannot UNDERSTAND why one of the lines is "Make a cartoon that JUST looks like you"

I don't get why they have to add the word "Just" to that sentence as if you create a cartoon somewhere else it will look like you and someone else? Like they are saying "No this cartoon will just look like you"

I always found this to be strange. Has anyone else noticed that or is it just me?

  • Haha, yeah. It's because whoever made the ad doesn't speak English as their first language. They meant to say "looks just like you." It's makes me feel better about the ad knowing they screwed up.

  • feminazis take more than what is theirs

  • Regarding the case where kids are involved, I found it funny that none of them even considered that the husband could change his name. Why would it have to be the woman.

  • @BTheHeretic

The reason for men giving children their last names was to establish Paternity. Unlike a woman (who is always the biological parent of the child, and legally recognized as such), men aren't always sure they are the father. A name change indicates to society that the child is recognized by the father.

  • I'm guessing it's happening because many women are seeing how not having feminine roles in society is actually damaging and destabilizing, and because they don't have to fight so hard for their rights anymore.

I expect the reason black women aren't doing the same is because they still often feel they have something to prove, and because there is such a problem with black men failing to be responsible mates.

  • TheGiantRobot - "feminine roles"? A woman giving up her last name to take that of her husbands is a feminine role? It's the role of a slave. It's moving one piece of property to a new owner, titling under a new name. Is this something you are willing to do and all your sons after you?

  • Come on now, I have my dad's family name - by choice - and that doesn't make me a slave or anyone's property. Are we all slaves for taking a last name? In some other countries, people don't even get last names.

And, yes, giving up your family name to take your husband's is a feminine role - it's the receiving role and one of trust - a gift. It's a symbolic unification into Mr. and Mrs. One. If you think it's evil, don't do it, no one makes you.

  • im moving up in the alaphabet thats what i am doing im not freaking staying in the ws i think thats how it should be u choose the letter of the last name that isnt the very front of the alaphabet or the end of the alaphabet thats how people should choose the last names

  • Long story, but...not only did my mom not take my dad's name, but I don't have the same last name as either of them. Heh.

  • arh that full ad at the beginning is so irritating.

  • Are men willing to give up their last names?

  • some r if it means moving up or down in the alaphebet depending on if they r an a or near the z being somewhere in the middle of the alabet is prob the best

  • o ya and if it means shortening the last name so its not so long either caz its a pain to write out long last names and guys r lazy

  • Why?

  • nilbud - Why not?

  • The guy already has a name.

  • nilbud - As does the woman.

  • So the problem is changing your name and the solution isn't to not change your name it's to change someone else's name. If changing name is bad how is the solution to do it to someone else? That violates the golden rule..

  • nilbud - The problem is hypocrisy. Do you endorse someone doing something that you wouldn't be willing to do?

  • That is the golden rule, I just cited it, your question is redundant.

  • Oh god, I don't feel like writing a shitload just to play this game with you.

No one should have to change their name, don't act thick.

  • The literacy game, you can't play. What a pity. Maybe you should learn to read you mindless troll.

  • Score one against the Feminazis!

  • even as a chick i gotta agree.

    feminazis piss me off T_T

    fired up butch girls D:

  • lol..that gladiator bit never gets old

  • wait, the US doesnt track birth-marriage records? Huh.

  • lol, Ana gets ignored the whole time!

  • Depending on what kind of last name the person I marry has will definitely determine if I take their name. I won't want to take a last name like Dudemister. Even though that'd be awesome.

  • that seems like really poor data. i wouldnt have run with it like this lady has

  • i know plenty women who hate feminists

  • They're all cunts
