Usually when I do roller sets my hair comes out very curly.. but hard. so I can't wrap it or comb out the curls and have alot of body and bounce. What can I do to help that? Because at the salon as you know you can wrap your roller sets and its very light. Mines are never light. why is that?
Thank you for the video. I have a lot hair and struggle to curl and I end up running out of space on the head. I wonder what I do wrong for that happening. I like to use 3/4 or 5/8 size roller that will hold the curls. When I use 1 inch roller, the curls don't stay and turn it out just waves on my hair.
very informant, It's great to be able to see you demonstrate the technique of roller setting, I always had a problem with straight parts , and getting my hair to stay on the roller. thank you
No, you don't have to dry the hair right away. As long as your hair doesn't hold water like mine, you should be fine. I know for a fact that my hair will not be dry in the morning. It holds on to water.
No. If my hair is dry, I apply foam wrap prior to rolling my hair. My hair doesn't stand a chance on a roller dry. But that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you. Give it a try! You never know until you try.
Great tutorial!!!!!! My daughter has hair down her back and I have always wanted to roller set her hair but didn't know how. I'm a single parent and have to spend so much money to keep her hair up and healthy. This will help me keep her hair styled in between visits to the salon. I may also be able to skip a visit which will save me money in th long run. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!
Yes, you will definately save a lot of money learning how to do your own roller sets. This is one of the hair styles that I feel every woman or man should do on their own to keep their hair healthy. It's not fair that a lot of us walk around looking like whatever because we can't afford to go to the hair salon every week and spend $35 for a roller set.
Thank you. Not at the moment. I'm lazy and don't have the time. Both of my daughter's are natural and take up my weekends. Once they are able to take care of their own hair, I think I will.
Thanks, I use a couple, just depends on the mood of my hair....lol I nornally use Kera Care Reconstructor, but sometimes I use Nairobi. I used to use Aphogee, which is very good, but I couldn't take the smell of it. YUK!!
No, my hair was still wet prior to applying the products. It just wasn't soaking wet. That's the key to not having to sit under the dryer for a long time. You can also do a dry roller set. Just use a small amount of foam wrap (just enough to wet your hair). Then sit under the dryer for about 20 minutes (depends on hair length) and you'll be set. Let me know if you should have any other questions. ;o)
Thank you so much for your beauty tips, you have inspire me to learn how to do my own roller set wet or dry without any problems, and thank you for making such a great tutorial.. please keep it coming.(Smiles and Hugs to ya)
Thank you!, and that's all it takes, practice. When I first started roller setting my hair it took me 45 minutes. Now I can do it in a little under 15 minutes. You can do it. If you have the will to learn, you'll get it. Let me know if you need further help. ;o)
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Your roller placement was very helpful when I rolled my hair today. Normally I have fifty million rollers all over the place. I rolled my hair perfectly using your method in less time and less rollers. Thanks so much, keep the tutorials coming.
Hi beautystudent 08 great video but I have stopped relaxing my hair for 8 months and I have to press my hair out first, who do you recommend to roller set the hair if I have to press it out first my hair is 2 inches past my shoulders and it it very thick and kinky before pressing it out I use Aveda products to get it manageable and it works wonders
Any one can roller set the hair. The good thing about dry roller sets is that you really don't have to worry about the parts. Just make sure you don't section too much hair for the roller and you'll be good. I like the Aveda products as well. Sap Moss and Damage Remenedy, but have to use it minimally because its too strong. I know it's a process for naturals but keep practicing. You can only get better. ;o)
Thank you and you can. It just takes practice. When I first started roller setting my hair it took me 45-55 minutes, now it only takes me 15 minutes! You can do it, don't give up. You may get frustrated like I did, but don't give up. ;o)
Great video, Is it hard to sleep in the roller set overnight? I sleep crazy so I'm wondering. Also i'm just beginning to relax my hair i see so many different videos on relaxed hair. I wash, condition, deep condition, and wrap my hair but that's all i ever done. Can u tell me what else is necessary with relaxed hair.
Thank you BBB! For me, it's not hard to sleep in rollers. Everyone is different, but it works for me. As far as I can see, you are doing everything right for your hair. You can use a carifying shampoo once a month to remove and product build up. Keep your ends trimmed and you should be set.
I have Biosilk Silk Therapy also. It seems to make your hair and the other people who have made video's hair silky, but not mine. I put it on my hair before I blowdry it (and sometimes after), but my hair still comes out frizzy-ish. I have really thin, blonde, longish, usually silky hair....but it still is has fly-aways and is frizzy. Do you have any tips? Thanks! ;)
Hi, if you are still having fly aways you may need a new conditioner. When my hair doesn't lay down well it normally means that my hair is not conditioned enough. You may want to invest in a new conditioner that makes your hair feel soft once dried. Another thing is that your blonde, which means that your hair has been bleached. You really need to make sure you're deep conditioning at least once a week. With bleached hair you want to make sure that your hair stays moisturized.
Thanks so much. I think that I'm going to buy Redken Extreme shampoo and conditioner. And to tell you the truth, my hair is completeley natural! ;] lol
what an excellent video. I set my wife's hair because she finds it difficult to do it herself and I learnt a lot from your video. You said at the end that you go to bed in your rollers. My wife would like to do this but finds it very uncomfortable. Do you wear a scarf or a hairnet to keep the rollers in and make it more comfortable?
Some people can't sleep in rollers, but it doesn't bother me a bit. I wear a satin scarf at night. Does it make it feel better?, no, not really. Just holds them in place.

Your video is great can you tell me how often I should do a reconstructor treatment when hair is damaged? Thanks
nmalone2 3 years ago
Reconstructor should be used once every six weeks for damaged hair. As the hair gets stronger/healthier, every three months is what I recommend.

Great vid.
What reconstructor did you use?
