  • I uploaded a bunch of iTunes music to mp3tunes. I see all the music when I login to mp3tunes from my pc, but only see a small subset via the roku interface. Anyone have any ideas who?

  • Oh, forgot to add that the two songs that actually showed up are in MP3 format and the others that didnt are in ACC format. Does this service only sync mp3s to folders?

  • im still hoping someone can help me. I just brought my Roku box and synced up my 400+ itunes music song collections through mp3tunes. The music synced fine. The problem is, only 2 out of the 130 songs in my itunes "purchased playlist" showed up in thet playlist section in specific roku.folder. I was under the impression that the online locker copied playlists?

  • My Roku and my computer are in the same room! Why should I upload my library to some distant server to listen to it on a device 12 feet away??

  • @Osiris408 What if you leave the house? Once your music is in your MP3tunes Locker you can listen on your phone, at a friend's house, at work, at school.... anywhere!

  • @Osiris408 not everyone has the same set up as you, why would you right a stupid comment like that???? and even if someone had that setup, maybe they would do it to play the music on the tv speakers...

  • What is the name of the software? Mp3Tunes or LockerSync3? When I followed your instructions, I got the LockerSync3 software downloaded instead ... I'm confused?

  • @vschafer The name of the company is MP3tunes. The name of the software for syncing files is called LockerSync. So, you create a MP3tunes account and then use LockerSync to add music to your locker.

  • Looks great. One question though...is there any kind of screen saver or visualization? I'd be worried that I'd get some screen burn on my plasma TV from the mostly static MP3tunes display.

  • @makingmark If you leave the Roku in "Shuffle" mode then the screen will update as each new track loads. We are looking into possibly doing some sort of screen visualization.

  • I don't have an mp3tunes channel on my Roku

  • @jimbo1023 You have to go to the Channel Store and install it. If you don't see it in the Channel Store you probably have to update your Roku to the latest version. You can do this under Settings and Player Info.

  • Will the videos on itunes play on the tv or just audio?

  • @dk6760 At this point, any video files will play the audio-portion only. But, we're working on some video solutions now. Stay tuned.

  • Your video is no help, Itunes does not auto sync, with MP3tunes, I can add mp3 files directly (one by one) from my pc to mp3tunes.

  • @missyknapp Try using the web-based uploader found at: mp3tunes dot com slash uploader

  • I hate to say it but wouldnt it be easier to have Itunes sync with media center on the network so we wouldnt have to upload gb and gb of music just to have them come back to the home network to listen to? really playstation has media center it cant be that hard

  • @Draco86x that only works on your local network. The advantage of putting your music online is that you can listen from anywhere you have internet access.

  • Pretty cool... I already have Sonos, so I don't need to send music to my Roku, but is there an iPhone app for playing in the car?

  • @erbower Yes. Search for Airband from the App Store.

  • Does MP3tunes only work with iTunes?

  • @DoctorWhoOfGallifrey No, you don't have to use iTunes. If you just have a folder of music that is tagged with ID3 tags then MP3tunes will work fine. You can use the free software program called LockerSync (mp3tunes dot com slash downloads). It will upload all your stuff then you can go to the MP3tunes web site and listen. We also have apps for iPhone, Android, Logitech, and other internet radios.

  • @mp3tunes Thank you for your reply!

  • I like the idea of using the cloud in some fashion, and I need something to replace SimplifyMedia, but my DSL download speed is about 1400 kilobits per second. Upload is ~400. Uploading my 40 gigs of music could take a while :(

  • @dmitchell63 That is true. And, unfortunately, is the way that ISPs work in the US. They give you a giant pipe for downloading and a tiny pipe for uploading. It does take awhile to do the initial sync if you have a lot of files. But, you can do it over time. After verything is uploaded most people tend to only add a few tracks or albums at a time. So, you only have to go through the upload wait once.

  • 10 GB = free

    50 GB = 39.95 / yr

    100 GB = 74.95 /yr

    200 GB = 139.95 / yr

You automatically get 2 GB free. Then if you add your name to the list for an upgrade at mp3tunes dot com / invite you get get in line for 10 GB.

  • how much does it cost???????

  • Will AAC format work as well. Much of my iTunes are saved as that format.

  • @Quickstudy100 - Yes, M4As will work. Files that are encrypted with DRM (m4p) or saved in 'lossless' formats won't work.

  • Will I be able to play songs that are coded as AAC files?

  • The Roku is the most amazing, cheap little electronic device I have ever purchased. Not to mention it is insanely easy to set up with your wireless network and the performance is amazing.

By far the best $100 I have ever spent on a piece of electronics. Haven't tried this yet, but it just keeps getting better. It handles HD movie downloads from Amazon and Netflix BETTER than my LG Blu-ray player.

Killer. Now do a deal with Hulu!

  • So...can you listen to podcasts and audio books from the iTunes/Roku set up? That would be great. I like my Roku and i have my Wii player hooked up on a second TV so I can watch NetFlix or I can rent new movies from Amazon and different members of the family can watch different shows at the same time. I do think Roku is a great deal. I do hope they work something out with Hulu

  • @rosebudali As long as the podcasts are in a format like mp3, mp4, m4a, ogg or wma they should work fine with MP3tunes

  • there is a ruku youtube channel.

  • @yetisattack Yes. It is a user developed channel and still in BETA, but so far has worked great for me. You can find out how to get it from a site called 'the nowhere man'. Or just Google it.

    Hope this helps.

  • I love it when they show you all the features but don't tell you how much it's going to cost. Tell us how much. It's all about the cost, dude!

  • @robertgoyer MP3tunes offers multiple signup options. We offer 2 GB accounts for FREE. If you need more storage we have 3 premium subscription options: 50, 100, and 200 GB. But, you don't have to sign up for a Premium account. Anyone can sign up for free.

  • @mp3tunes On the website I only see an option for 50GB accounts; I need more than this. Is there a special URL for the larger accounts?

  • @alphasimian There is a link that says "Need more space for your music?" clicking this will open a menu with some more options.

  • @mp3tunes that's still not an answer - you're beating around the bush and still not giving any actual prices out. I always find it dodgy when companies avoid giving prices. robertgoyer didn't ask what kind of premium subscriptions you offer, he asked how much!!

  • @bizturic We posted the prices here in the comments. You can check them out for yourself at mp3tunes dot com slash signup

  • @mp3tunes thank you

  • @robertgoyer To clarify this more: you get up to 10 GB for free. Premium 50 account is $40 a year, Premium 100 account is $75/yr. and Premium 200 is $140 a year

  • why ROKU can not show youtube videos is beyond me, or can it? even their marketing material points to youtube, strange.

  • This is another reason I love my Roku! I got it for Netflix, but I've since left Netflix yet Roku keeps giving us more and more reasons to be happy we got it!

    THANKS ROKU!!!

  • Stupid idea.

  • Once again - ROKU missed me entirely as i don't (and won't) use iTunes - gee ROKU i guess if you are not an Apple fan boy you shouldn't buy a ROKU!

Also - if you don't want to reset your dsl modem every day - yopu shouldn't buy a ROKU

... and if you don't want to see regular updates that never fix bugs, but just adds more pay content - you shouldnt.....etc etc etc - had mine for well over a year and it just keeps being underwhelming - especially since my Wii now plays netflix!

  • @javamanV3 don't be such a hater - it makes you look silly. This company is independent from ROKU - they are just a separate developer. The ROKU has a bunch of third party channels you can install on it.

  • @joel8x i see - so wanting something to just work as advertised makes me a haster - how long have you worked for ROKU? what i am complaining about is that the third party channels take precedence over bug fixes. in the basic tool - ie netflix instant watch.

Oh wait - i get it - you are an apple fan boy ... lol - my mistake...I was thinking logic here, but obviously ... not applicable .

  • @javamanV3 Once again you look silly. Why do you think ROKU has anything to do with the development of third party channels beyond an approval process? I've got an idea, hook up a giant linux box to your TV and spend 40 minutes a day patching it and editing config files & spend 2 weeks poorly encoding your music from your collection of 78's so that you can listen to music on your TV alone because your only "friends" are twitter bots & old pervs. It's fun generalizing people, isn't it?
